I'm thinking that I will install a Maggie next year sometime...not sure if it will be a 1900 or 2300 but for now I'm getting the intake and exhaust taken care of.

I went with a Vararam and a Corsa cat back system....Kooks long tube headers will be next.

I already checked with Vararam and there will be a mod to mate to the Maggie.

Question is, do I go with 1-3/4 or 1-7/8" LT headers realizing that the Maggie is a strong possibility down the road?

Thanks for the input!

I know others will disagree with me but I would go with the 1 3/4" headers for the build. I have seen other stroker LS engines with blowers that still run the 1 3/4". If you spend a lot of time at part throttle and launch at part throttle, then you will be better off with the smaller ones.
I hope its O.K. to mention only part of Patrick G's writtings, and somewhat out of context, but he mentioned hte car will spend much of its time climbing through the RPM range and not at its peak RPM or shift point. Dyno numbers are one thing; A stronger pull through the gears is another. You might give up 5 peak HP but you will gain somthing like 10 foot punds of torque through the mid range. That will pull the car better.
If its a street car at all, I would stick with the 1 3/4". There will be many more answers to this, and all with good thoughts on why it works. There will be debate on this forever. I picked the smaller and me car seems to launch stronger. That tells me something. Just my two cents.

I think the cam you go with will make a difference as well. My cam makes mad top end, but without the Maggie (which was intended at the beginning) seriously takes a hit on the bottom end. I agree with Jerry that maybe 1 3/4 would have been the way to go. Add the maggie into the equation with my cam to take care of the bottom end and the 1 7/8s are what I need. That came from Nick at ARH by the way. Maggie will be on by spring ;)

I agree 100% if all your gonna do is headers 1 3/4 is the way to go.
I have the 1 7/8 right now but plan on getting a little more aggresive cam in the near future.

I love my 1 7/8 LT'st even now with just OTR CAI & custom tune =).. Sounds awsome..
I didnt feel any low end loss either.

Show me a graph where 1 7/8 make less power in low/midrange then 1 3/4. I have never seen one and think that is a myth. I'd go with 1 7/8.

You cant go wrong either way, but if you are going mod crazy in the future, I would choose 1 7/8.

I'd go with 1 7/8.If you're talking about Kooks or American Racing headers on a 6.0L or 6.2L G8, this is absolutely a true statement. I have never seen the 1 7/8" headers give up even 1 lb ft of torque to 1 3/4" headers, even at 2000 rpm. For these engines, there are no losses going bigger, only gains.

Then I apologize for attempting to use Patrick's words against him. I tried to make a point with them but missed. I mean to say larger is not always better. In this case. 1 7/8 is not too large then. I will think about stepping up to them after the head porting and cam change......Then the blower......then.....LSX 416 short block....

I will be careful in the future with using peoples words.
