Please sign up to attend on www.nationalg8meet.com

I will no longer be adding names to this list.

O.K. I think most of us have seen the
threads in the lounge about a national meet.
Bracketracer has stepped up to try
to organize this with some regional help.

Bracketracer has just confirmed that
the G8-ARAMA will be August 19th - 22nd, 2010.

We are penciled in to have the Cordova track for
Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th.

Mario (Blackdevil77) has set up a website
specifically about the Bash. www.nationalg8meet.com

Anyone who doesn't know - the Quad Cities are
Bettendorf and Davenport, Iowa and
Rock Island and Moline, Illinois.
Here is a link to the website.

http://www.quadcities.com/

Anyone in the Northeast Region please pm me
if you can make it and I will add you to the list
and try to keep everyone up to date on the plan.

This started out for the North East region only
but for now I will add the name of anyone in the
country until the other regions pick up on this.

yeah we need to get a date set up!! I still think late august would probably be best and some people will have to take off... as of right now Im considering my options... I can either a) trailer my car with my bfs truck OR b) tape her up and drive her down.... either way its probably going to be a day and a half of driving UNLESS me and my bf switch off and drive straight through... so Its going to be some planning either way....

How about... August 14th-15th? that weekend would be good.

KEV-O

KEV-O
11-05-2009, 03:30 PM
i have received an e-mail from someone who organizes these type of meets every year
it isn't to the fullest detail, but this is what he did when he first started out
"Hi Kevin,

First I would say decide what you want to do, plan a schedule, pick a location, how many people.

Then begin calling hotels, local tracks, trophy shops etc.

Have a few thousand dollars in your budget and hope to get it all back.

As this sounds like your first time I would suggest the Detroit area so it is local to you, that will make things easier as there is no on-site middle man for you.

Don't forget insurance.

How's that for a start"?

caretaker
11-05-2009, 04:49 PM
That pretty much is all common sense.
Especially the part about a budget.
It will be interesting to see what happens
when people are asked to really make a
commitment and put up a deposit.
But, lets give Joe (bracketracer) a chance.
He already got back to me and is getting in touch
with the track to see what is involved with that
part of it.

i replied to the guy to see if there are more details involved and how to go about them

bracketracer
11-06-2009, 06:12 AM
As soon as I can nail down a date with the track, I will get a host hotel arranged. Then I plan to post the info on every G8 Board I can find. For this to be successful, it needs to include (not exclude) as many people as possible. I will keep everyone updated as I get new info.

I'm in for sure, i am only an hour away from QCs. Don't get up there too much or know the hotels but they just built a new by the airport. Chris (4GASEM) lives up there he can probably be more help on locations. I don't have a lot of time but i might be able to help out with some sponsorship money, even though we don't do much that involves the G8 i would like to help out in some way.

You want approximate rates - I got rates.
These are for check in Thursday August 19th
and check out Sunday August 22nd.

I know we don't have definitely dates or head count
but this should give everyone a rough idea.
I'm sure we can do some better if we can fill up the place.
Maybe even need two hotels. I like to think BIG!
It would be great to get a couple hundred G8's there.

RAMADA – Bettendorf - $68/n – 1 king
Baymont Inn – Davenport - $48/n – 1 king on 2 doubles
Days Inn – Davenport - $61/n – 1 king or 2 queens
Clarion – Davenport - $89/n – 1 king
Quality Inn & Suites – Moline - $55/n
Comfort Inn & Suites – East Moline - $76/n – 1 king

All prices plus tax.

If we get a couple hundred G8 there, that would be insane! The biggest gathering of G8s I've ever seen was like 9 or 10.

oh btw, you can put me down as "definitely." If it ends up happening, I'll be there :)

Thats one of the top five most fun things you can do with your clothes on. In 97 (i think) i went to an Impala SS show in Bowling Green KY, went down with 4 cars but came back part way with the St Louis crowd, that was 20 cars. Everyone had portable CBs and some guy in Mustang comes by actin all big n bad and i hear "who wants to take this guy?'' so one of them takes off and shuts the guy down on the top end. Yet another guy who thinks a 4 dr won't run.
Anyway for those who have never done the caravan thing it is one of the coolest things to do, makes me wish i lived a little further away just so i could do it again.
Kim.

yes caravaning is ALOT of fun! Had quite a few with my last car its an amazing feeling seeing a whole pack of cars just take over the road and knowing your part of them. And while i'm thnking about it where were we thinking of having this meet? The meet i mentioned above was at Beech bend raceway which was great for the racing but there was nothing else there to do, the next year in St Louis the show was actually in the hotel parking lot and we drove out to Gateway for the racing. That means you can walk to your room any time, all the cars were in one place and the wives (etc) are happier because there's something else for them to do, shopping and such. Just an idea, disregard if i'm way behind on this.

This past June 14th in West Chester, PA and then we cruised to Valley Forge. We had about 16 cars - about 12 G8s, a few GTOs, and a Vette. Large groups like this are a blast. The caravan on the road is always the best.

She got out of the Subie we got for her at school the other day and a guy walks up to her and says "NICE CAR"... She's like... "thanks?" Then she asks him if his is an auto or manual... He says "auto" and she replies back... "Want to trade?" Ours is a manual... First manual she ever drove. She's pretty good at it too. 46,000 pampered miles and 250bhp at the wheels and AWD for the price I paid... I couldn't pass it up. :) Maybe we'll get IT out to Cordova too... lol

What's a lot more? 100, 200, 500? It's the first year, we'll take what we can get...

The trip can be done in a day, I've been to Quincy, Ill. many times. That's just as far, it's south of Cordova but still on the Mississippi River.

A drinking stop would be nice, but it will add a day to the trip, some might not be able to do an extra day.

I could go either way.

It's just over 1,000 miles for me, 16-17 hours.
I've done that much before in one day,
but I'm not sure I am still up to it.
Plus traveling in larger groups usually slows things down.
Smaller groups of 5 - 10 cars would be what I would like to see.
If this is going to basically start of Thursday afternoon
then I will probably head out on Wednesday and get
as far as comfortably possible (600 - 700 miles),
and finish up Thursday morning.

To justify it I'd be happy with a 100. Smaller then that and its almost like a local meet as we had about 20 cars at Sandy Point earlier this year.

True I can make it to Chicago pretty quick but I'm not sure how fast everyone is willing to go. Chicago is 700 miles vs the 850 to Moline though.

If you truly want to make this a national meet why not make it closer to the geographical center of the 48 states which is Lebanon Ks. That being said Topeka Ks. and Heartland Park Raceway would make a great place for a get together.

people have been trying to get a meet going for well over a year, and noone took the initiative to get things going
until now, bracketracer has called a track, we have a date, and a place all set in stone
no need to try other places when things are flowing smoothly thus far
it will just confuse things more

It absolutely would, but this is what we have.

No one else set anything up. Even the other board made noises about a meet, but no one stepped up.

I'm sure the West Coast guys hate this idea, but to have one somewhere else, someone needs to get it together. Bracketracer is from there and set it up with what and who he knew.

At least we have this option.

PS
I'd rather it was at Maple Grove, Cecil County, or Atco...

i would like to try and make 3-4 different styles
all to do with this meet
also, after the car show...i would like to design some shirts with the winners cars on the shirt
with that said, we need to start figuring out where to get trophies(which i have looked a bit) and also what categories this car show will involve

Yeah, Mapquest is telling me just under 15 hours also from South Jersey. The NYC-Metro area folks will probably be taking Route 80 all the way while those of us from the Philadelphia-Metro area will probably be on Route 76, out past Pittsburgh until 76 meets up with 80 in OH.

We could probably sync-up with your caravan where 76 meets 80 in OH. That point is approx 250 miles from NY or Philly.

I'd like to do it all in one day, Thursday. About the same as driving to Orlando.

To do it right, you must plan fuel stops too for the worst gas mileage vehicle in the caravan or else your pitstops will be way too many.

There is a lot to coordinate and agree upon.

Does your car plan on doing the bunny hop the whole way there?

As of now, my wife says she'll go, which means the little girl is going to come with us. If she goes, I may end up leaving Wednesday evening when I get off work, and just drive straight through the night. I think that if I do that, our daughter will sleep most of the way there and be easier to deal with. If I wait until Thursday morning to leave, she'll be wide awake and very difficult to entertain!

If we do end up leaving Thursday morning, there's no telling how many stops we'll have to make because of her. We drove to Gatlinburg a couple weekends ago, and had to make a lot more stops than I anticipated. After a couple hours in the car she'd get bored and start throwing a tantrum. You know how kids are. :) If they end up going with me, we would slow you down a ton, so you'd be better off without us.

If my wife decides not to go, I'll leave my daughter here with her, and then I'll be by myself. Then that'd be cool if we rode together. I'll let you know when it gets closer if the wife changes her mind. Hopefully some more Southeast people decide to make the trip, so the convoy isn't so pitiful!

That's AWESOME! I will try to get a hold of the local news center the week before the event. Hopefully they'll put us on TV too! I have friends that work there...

I just made my hotel reservations for the meet.

When I was researching the Casino, a couple reviews said that if you are a first time visitor and you join the players club the casino will comp your room to $30 (I assume one night only)

I cannot personally vouch for this but this is what I read on more than one hotel review site.

See you there

:)

Got a link to that?
