View Full Version : Acceleration Video Wars!

I borrowed this idea from another forum I am apart of. Let's see the acceleration videos! Provide video in your post and also include your modifications and also specify GT or GXP. I will edit this first post as we go along. Their will be 2 separate categories, 1 being N/A and 2 being boosted.

Here are the terms.

THE CONDITIONS ARE: PLEASE MAKE OR CROP VIDEOS FROM 40MPH TO 90MPH. You have to record your car from when it starts accelerating till you let off. Do not record while already in the throttle..This will give a clear enough indication of acceleration.

Calculate your times by using http://www.online-stopwatch.com/, keep in mind youtube tends to mess with framerates so the actual acceleration may not be correct. For this I advise posting somewhere that doesn't compress the videos. If you have a dashhawk or something else to calculate the elapsed time that will work as well!

For those that only have 0 - 60 acceleration videos you can post them up too

N/A:
nathanf2009 - G8 GT (Vararam CAI, SLP Loudmouths) - est. 7.5 seconds (standing)
99-LS1-SS - G8 GXP (ARH LT Headers, Vararam CAI, Custom Tune) - est. 6.2 seconds (standing)

What about using HP Tuners and posting a screen shot of the log? I could do that.

If I can get traction I'll try. I tried to log a 0-60 w/my DRs on and I fried them even when rolled into it

Are you having traction issues at 40 mph?

If I flash it at 40 on street tire yes might be able to roll into it. I haven't had time to play with it too much yet. I tried a couple 0-60 runs last night (keeping in mind cold air cold road cold tires) with my DRs and my best 0-60 was 3.6 rolled into 3/4 throttle.

I'm looking into better wider tires once I have the $$$$

Have you tried holding it in manual and once you've floored it move it to sport? Might help your down shifting/flashing concern.

I think the flashing hes referring to is the converter flashing it to the stall rpms in that gear not the car downshifting.

As much as a converter helps these cars I will not be getting one since I only plan on running street tires and no one seems to be able to get any traction with a converter and street tires.

That might be the case but, if he's running, say, 3500 rpms holding 3rd gear (manual mode) the convert shouldn't flash nearly as much as if he was running 1200 rpms in 6th gear when he floors it. I'm not sure I explained that very well.

I did a little on Tuesday night and it wasn't too bad but I was also in traffic so I was gentle lol Funny thing is I had just learned how to get a good launch on street tires after the cam and now I have to learn all over again.

Chris from Circle D owes me new tires

I will see what I can do on Sat. I've needed to add some new videos onto YouTube anyways.

I tried with traction control off and my tires just spun all the way through 30MPH....So I'm wondering, what is the best way to launch this car from a dig?

They already do, lol! Ask Jerry when I did a suspension loaded launch and roasted the tires through the first three gears! Lol! Or my wife when I mashed the petal at 75 and kicked Tigger sideways (which she thought was cool) :)

My wife is not a speed freak but my kids are. I did a quick 0-40 shot for them and they were hysterical.

Here's my run. 40 to 90 run in third. It would have been better if I would have started in second but it was hard enough driving with one hand and holding my shitty camera phone with the other. If I would have had to shift gears I would have probably dropped the phone.
I logged the run with HP Tuners to be as accurate as possible and according to my log the run took 6.2 seconds.

If someone wants to independently confirm my results I'll send my scan to them. The run in the scan goes from:
Frame - 2586, Time - 15:40.1, MPH - 40
Frame - 2728, Time - 15:46.3, MPH - 90

Here's the video. Sorry for the quality and for forgetting to turn my radio down.

Funny thing is that whenever I'm in a different state for business people always try to guess where I'm from and they almost always say Texas!

using a hp tuners log file i came up with

40mph = 21.28
90mph = 25.7

et from 40-90 = 4.42sec

thats at 8psi.

I did two runs before taking the DRs off. Title say 90 but it was closer to 97
on the first run. And my sound track choice is far better than 99's :nah:

Thanks for posting & bumping this thread. I never saw it until right now. I'll do this...... :)

I just did a couple of runs from highway speeds ~ 70mph to 140mph today. I really gotta get the limiter removed.....

I'll get my 40 - 90mph up soon..... I've gotta free day this Monday 1/25....

I'm thinking Lady Gaga for my tune! :D
