I just got a new sunroof module that is exactly like the one that was used for 2008. For those of you who don't know for 2008 all you had to do was turn the knob to the desired location and let the roof do it's thing. However, someone in legal decided to change the function to the current turn, and hold set up. I HATE the new way!

I ordered Part number 92202368 from monsterpartsonline.com and crossed my fingers that I would get the correct 2008 module and not the new 2009 and up one. Well it worked. :D The module isn't cheap though and cost $210.13plus shipping. Now for the install. And as always I am not responsible for any damage you may incur by following these instructions. Do so at your own risk.

Step 1. Make sure the sun roof is in the fully closed position. Using a very small flat blade screwdriver or even a credit card carefully pry down the sunroof switch panel.

Step 2. Remove the two Torx head screws. You will need a size T20 torx bit to do so.

Step 3. Pry down the front edge of the overhead panel near the dome lights to release the retention clips. Then slide the panel slightly forward to release the rear.

Step 4. Unplug the wire connector

Step 5. Remove the three T20 Torx head screws from the sunroof module and remove then module.

Step 6. Fit the new module into place and attach with the torx screws. DO NOT connect the wire harness until the module is in place and secured.

Step 7. Perform the Sunroof Motor/Actuation Synchronization procedure.

Button everything up and enjoy!:woohoo:

interesting thanks for the nice write up..
I also hate how you cant close it when you turn the car off and take keys out of ignition.
You have to leave keys in and close roof..sucks..
My damn 01 Impala will let me still close sunroof when I turn car off and take key out.

From what I can see is it is just the GXP's that have the 2nd design module.
If it was all 2009.5 models it would have the BSI option code listed in my catalog instead of the V9R (GXP) code.

My 09.5 GT has the revised design, my guess is the parts catalog is wrong (that NEVER happens right? :))

Yup it's never wrong. Just like everything on the internet. Thanks for the correction Chris.

No sweat man trust me the catalog for the G8 has a TON of anomalies which I'm sure you've seen probably more than I have :D
