Had some spare time and spare carbon fiber sheet laying around so I spent about 15 minutes doing this. It looks better in person. Thoughts?

You are correct! I carbon fiber'd alot of my first gen's interior.

Yes. I actually did it on one, but I didn't like it as well. It made the insert look a little too busy. Once the insert was in, I used my exacto blade to cut out the shape of the star. It would probably look better with a solid color insert.

The pseudo/faux carbon fiber makes the car look cheap, IMHO. I'd go the real deal or no deal.... My $0.02

I hear ya. I have both and tried both. The real CF doesn't cut/shape as well in that tiny arrowhead. Live up close in person, you cannot tell the difference from more than 3-4 feet away.
