The husband and I are bringing our '94 SHO 3.2L back home to Washington from California next week when our vacation ends. It's been down here for almost two years, just sitting. Before it came down here we had done a heater core, some coolant hoses and a few other things. My mother in law dropped the damn key in the engine and it took us three days to fish the damn thing out. We got it started, and bam - it's obvious that the water pump has gone out and it's making all sorts of noise. It's never been leaking, but for some reason we've always had some sort of steam coming out of the right side of the engine after long drives, and hopefully this was the problem all along.
Yesterday we started on our project of tearing that thing out and replacing it and it's going rather well, actually. However, when my husband took part of the intake manifold out, the thing looks like it's covered in rust and oil and red crap, but no coolant *thankfully*. I've never done any sort of tear-down like this on this car, so I'm not exactly sure if it's commonplace or not? I know these cars are plagued by problems, and but if you can sort through them them you've got a damn good car on your hands.
