I want to give a big thanks to Greg at Pace Performance for the customer service and how speedy he got me these wheels.

Look like these wheels are made by Superalloy SAi of Taiwan (http://www.saimtl.com/main.php). They seem to be forged and then machined down to spec. The pictures and weight tells all. I'm surprised how light these wheels feels. So I busted out the digital bathroom scale and to my surprise. Now for some rubbers and awaiting on my TPMS. :woohoo:

So the fronts are 19x9-51 offset?

I really want to run a full set of fronts all the way around, this would give me the ability for a 275 tire with a wheel that is lighter than or the same weight as a stock GXP wheel.

What are you going to do about center caps?

You can look up the pricing at the GMPP website to get an idea. They are cheaper than a GXP rim which are around $500+ a rim. I looked it up a couple of months ago, I think they were in the $450 a rim range, can't remember. Do a search in this section someone listed the price I think.

Can't remember exactly but around $2200 bucks. Would been cheaper if GM didn't charge you the stupid $200 core charge.

The above CTS-V wheels are
Front - $468.94 plus $50.00 core each
Rear - $504.38 plus $50.00 core each
Plus shipping

The GXP wheels are ~333.00 with no core.

W427s are great wheels, favorite. But the CTS-V wheels have a few things going for them that make them more appealing than aftermarket options.

I plan to do the V wheels eventually if I don't sell the car for a V next spring, even though I can't get enough of my GXP...

GM started charging core charges on wheels last year when the scrap prices were very high. Sorry

So if I dig in the scrap heap behind the shop and get 4 alum rims, can I turn those in for the core charge, or is GM's core charge just a price increase?

Greg@PacePerformance

You can turn them in if they are 2009 or 2009 CTS-V wheels other than that GM doesn't accept them. ;)
GM doesn't plan on selling any of their parts to people doing swaps. IMO. They price things for insurance companys to buy. Why else would wheels made in mass like say a 2001 Grand Am 16" wheel with a piece of chromed plastic be $600.00 each.
I have seen wheel kits in the GMPP book ie the 2002 Camaro SS wheels sell for $800.00 including 4 wheels lug nuts and center caps.
If they intend on selling to the public it would be in the GM Performance Part book.

Just another reason GM has trouble making money.

Not blaming you, just commenting.

I like the CTS-V rims, but I'll be damned if I'll spend that much on a heavy stock rim. I can buy CCWs for that money that are lighter and IMHO, nicer looking.

I have yet to see an aftermarket forged wheels not ding or dent from every day road use. Every one of my vehicles I previously owned in the past always had aftermarket forged wheels. My previous vehicles all had Volks (TE37, CE28, and GT series, just to name a few) BBS, OZ's, and Enkeis. The life span for my personal experience these forged wheels are light but are proned to dents from pot holes, and they are not that strong as one believes. I wished the CTS-V wheels are cheaper but I'm confident they will last me at least 5 years. I don't regret buying the CTS-V wheels, each to their own I guess.

I looked at CCWs myself, and they would be $675 a rim [10" or below, 19"] before shipping etc. $2700 is still a chunk.

To each their own. I prefer factory upgrades if that option is available.

CTS-V wheels look great. Very subtle upgrade. Much better than widening the stock wheels even.

The G8 GXP wheels are forged aluminum as well, they are actually made in the same factory and by the same company as the CTS-V wheel.

Only difference is that the GXP wheels are 19x8 all the way around, CTS-V is 19x9f and 19x9.5r.

My toss up is go with CTS-V wheel or buy the CCW SP510 and use my stock GXP wheels as my winter wheels.

Why is it when people are going to a 275 or 285 tire the sidewall height is usually 35 instead of 40? Doesn't that change the speedo reading? The fronts are still 40, but the rears are 35 with the wider tire. Please learn me. Thanks.

And StockG8 those look great. Nice shine on that car too.

The 35 and 40 numbers are "Aspect Ratio"
It's a measure of the sidewall height (rim to tread height) divided by the width of the tyre.

If you keep the same sidewall height and go to a wider tyre, then the aspect ratio gets lower.

Changing aspect ratio does not automatically mean your overall diameter or revs/mile change.

Best explanation of it here.

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos

Front tires were 245/45/18 and the fronts are currently 255/40/19 - Sidewall height difference between the two is -0.32"

Overall diameter is only 0.35" between the two.

Rears were 245/45/18 stock, and 285/35/19 currently - Sidewall height difference between the two is -0.41" and overall diameter is 0.17" between the two. On paper my speedo be off approximately 1/2 mph. I can live with the little margin of error. Thanks again for the compliments...
