Well it seems I can beat an LS3.
It might not have been a stock LS3 with the 426HP but it was a LS3 400HP with a tune and CAI.
We raced twice last night at Countyline Dragway in Hialeah, Fl./ shellacked his a... twice and then he went home.
So much for not being able to take an LS3 without having a cam

Are you talking about an L99 Camaro?

I believe he is...

only the manual 2010 camaro has the LS3. The automatic V8 has the L99.

If in not mistaken I think GM calls it and L99 only because it has the AFM system. Other than that its still an LS3 block, heads and intake.

Sure call it a LS3, but with 400 less RPM's, 26 less horsepower, heavier valvetrain... I would call it a L99 as that is what it is.

That is like calling a L76 in the GT a LS3 like is in the GXP. They are not one in the same other than they are both from the LSx family.

Agreed, BUT they are both 6.2L. Comparing a L76 and an LS3 would be a to smart as one is a 6.0 and one is a 6.2.

Yes they are different and it is called a L99, but its still a LS3 block.

And you cant compare the L76 to the LS3 mainly because the L76 uses a LS2 block. Also the displacement is different.

Either way, its not like the LS3 is the be-all or end-all of engines. Afterall, we've all seen that when push comes to shove (modded to modded) an LS3 doesn't really make any more than a L76. Put the same cam, same cold air, exhaust, etc, they are pretty much identical in terms of hp tq and et

Okay I agree it was the L99 Automatic SS/RS, but with a tune and CAI.
My mods are 25% U/D pulley, HP Tuners, 160 degrees thermostat, cat back exhaust, roto fab CAI.
My best time at Palm Beach International Raceway is 13.01 at 106.25 with temperatures in the high 70's, temp's in the 80's running 13.20's
My reaction times have been consistently .0's

Yeah that still works. The Camaros aren't that much quicker, consistently.

that is true cause my G8 GXP ran a 12.9 with only tune and cai and its a four door and a bit heavier than the camaro. the temp. was about high 80's when i ran it

i think they weigh about the same, and the manuals weigh a bit less than the autos

Ktlplxm

The weights are close, the biggest benefit they have is gear ratio. Take an automatic equipped GXP and they're nothing

LOL. Perhaps we need a "HUH?" forum. We are starting to amass some doosies! I could probably contribute regularly:).
