Who has the trunklid bottom carpeting/covering on their V6 G8?

Hello Fellow G8 V6 Owners,

Just wondering if any of you have the bottom of your trunklids carpeted/covered from the factory? Mine has nothing and I've read that some V6's came with the bottom trunklid covered. I believe all V8's have this area covered.

I had o buy mine. Watch out on the cost of the plastic push pins. Cheap bastards should have made it original equipment.

Nope, mine came bare-bottomed. :spank: Got it from Pace. Yep, the pins were ridiculous.

Yeah, I believe that item is specific to the V8 cars. Really is unfortunate because it makes the trunk look nice and clean.

I got one in mine paid for by dealer. They thought all G8's had them and forgot to install so they ordered everything for free. NICE!!!

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Sure is silly if indeed these covers only came on the V8 cars. Wondering if the new Camaro's will have the same fate?
I can see GM wanting to save money but geez, this cars cost enough and these covers should have been standard on all G8's.

Yep, only on the V8's. Too bad - all G8's should come standard with this.

Not sure. I would try to locate a wrecked V8 and get it from there.

In Australia not all the V8's had them.
You can look at one VE SS and it will have a trunklid lining and the next SS won't. It's almost as if they ran out of stock at some point in time and just pushed the cars thru without the trunklid liner.

That sucks! I can understand certain things being left off while GM was trying to save a buck while building these cars, but that looks so unfinished you’d think someone would’ve said “Hum…No, go ahead and put that on there.”

For those of you who have bought this for your V6 how much do they run?

I would have to recheck. Got mine from the dealer, not more than $75.00. It was the fraking pins that were the expensive requirement. Somewhere around $55.00 for the pins. (12). Thats why I suggest if possible contacting a salvage yard. If not Crazy Paul might check. Really overpriced.

Yeah I would check the yards and CP before the dealership. $55 for pins, thats crazy.

Autozone or Murrays had similar pins, i bought them for another project/car a long time ago, i'll match one up to my G8.

I had to order from dealer, they gave me the pins, very nice of them.

You can buy the retainers at Lowe's. The ones that fit are the ones like the retainer clips on the wheel well liners, the ones with a separate pin that you can pry out to remove the retainer. 2 for a buck-something.

I purchased my underside trunk lid carpet along with the rubber trunk liner from the dealer in January of 09 from the dealer where I bought my car from. I went to AutoZone for the push pins. It looked unfinished without it.

Mine was bare too at purchase. Got the trunk lid liner and pins from Greg at Pace and the trunk mat from the dealer. Now the trunk looks finished.

Mine had one when I bought it, but maybe the previous owner put it in? Mines a v6
