How in the world did this happen? It's everywhere!!!! It looks like I went on a jungle safari with my G8! Haven't driven anywhere but the street. It's even all the way up to the air box!

Is it mud? Shit almost looks like tar. Can you try and get it off?

Make sure the small coolant hose on top of the radiator is not leaking. This is pretty common.

I dunno that doesn't look like coolant though...? Looks like some good ol texas mud! lol

It's mud yes and i didn't do the great mod's yet. I'm waiting for my CAI to come in probably on wednesday and doing the Lower panel mod when I put that in. Good thing I didn't do it yet huh? All that mud all over the engine bay is ridiculous and i still can't figure out how it all got there.

anybody have that happen? Charlie, with your lower panel mod, would I be able to put something like a stocking or something in front of the opening to keep this kinda stuff out or would that defeat the purpose?

My engine is perfectly clean after driving in 2 hurricanes. The lower panel did not do that. 2 different G8s looked the same way after the small coolant hose leaked. If it is mud it would seem that you would have to know that as it would be more then just there.

I didn't do the lower panel mod yet. I know that wouldn't do anything like this. Yeah it just appeared one day. Only thing I can think of is the road work making the roads excessively dirty. How would I clean this without getting the engine wet?

If its mud you had to have run through a puddle. Just wash it off, it's not going to hurt you engine. Avoid spraying intake, alternator, and coils. Be sure the engine is cold when you do it.

Check your coolant level too, Charlie may very well be right.

dust and dirt can build up, especially if one of the sand storms kick up...having rain afterwords could cause something like this possibly???

I'm just throwin darts here

upper coolant hose that goes to cool the heads. leaks alot and when the coolant dries it can look like crystalized dirt. especially if the coolant is a little old and dirty.
