NOW for the SON OF A BITCH, or Motherf&$(&er or How the hell did this happen!!!!!!

So today I was at Sebring doing the track day event I passed some awesome cars so much so that a few people were impressed!!

I passed an Audi R8, yes a Audi R8 and a few Porsches and others I had it all of it on recorded on GoPro but I had it all set on photo mode, Damn it!!

Now for the most f-ed up part of all. I was jacking up the car to take the slicks off and put my street tires back on and I put the jack in its place and as I starting jacking the car up it slipped or something moved and I ripped off the side molding and now my door is really hard to open and close. See pictures below!!!

That's your car's way of saying "Enough with the mods! Leave me alone!"

Atleast it doesn't appear any damage was done to the door/fender. Just replace the bottom molding (if you can find it) and all should be well.

Holy fuck dude!

You need some "No Lift" and "Not a Jacking Point" stickers on the plastic.

The rear bumper looks like it was backed into a chain-link fence.

where the hell are the jacking points then! And I looked in the manual!

In that pic, do you see the metal ridge behind that white plastic clip? That's the pinch weld where the jack head goes. Center the lift plate there, not on the plastic.

I always kneel down and look under the car as I'm pumping the jack so I make sure the lift plate stays centered until the jack makes contact and starts to lift the car.

that's exactly where I had to jack, what I think happened was i pulled on the jack or something and that damage is what happened. On all 4 corners is where I put the jack

is the metal rail in front of the clip actually bent toward the camera? it definitely looks bent

I managed to bend it back some to the point where it not noticeable from far away but maybe I can wait a little before I get it fixed!

Some jacks (LIKE from AutoZone) have a split head that straddles the pinch joint. Were you using the Pontiac jack ?

a craftsman 2 or 4 ton jack

You didn't crawl on the ground when you placed the jack, did you?

If you heat up the rocker panel with a hair dryer, it may help to straighten it out some and get it back into shape. Looks like the jack slipped out from underneath. Hope you get it fixed up. I almost did something like that when I was swapping tires on my car. It's a heart stopper.

First off, make sure it's a good floor jack. Harbor Freight has some for about $50 that have lasted me a quite a few of my fellow racers for 5+ years.

Second, DON'T USE THE STICH/PINCH WELD as a jacking point. It'll bend under on about the 3rd time you use it. Look under the car for where the front and rear subframes bolt to the regular frame of the car. Jack from that point. You should always jack from a structural member of the car - and stich-welded sheet-metal DOES NOT COUNT.

Lastly, move those tips back another inch. Just cut them off, and weld in a ring/spacer to move them back. A muffler shop could do it, too.

Re: Issue
having fun at other's expense.

really, though, this board could use an injection of tough wisdom. posters should use critical thinking, watch what they type, and use searches. it's not like there's a hurry to type without thinking........

otherwise they leave themselves open. its easy to see that this group is small and tight. that don't mean someone outside the circle can't provide insight.

i guess i could tone it down a bit, but posting warnings without pming is lame. thx for the pm

Why does your "wisdom" have to be tough? Why can't you just make a comment without being a smartass? All I'm asking is for you to work on your "delivery" some. We are a tight knit group here and we all get along. It's a very family like atmosphere here and I am very happy and proud of it. With that being said, I will continue to attempt to keep it that way too.

I have now PM'd with him Brandon/Ray and given my words of wisdom. Its up to him.

I did re-read ALL of this thread and didn't see where anybody crossed any lines with the exception of Danf1000's comment.

I would strongly advise for any member to refrain from playing the "DUMBFUCK" card with myself especially, but I think ALL the moderators are not tolerating any bullshit anymore.

Its bad enough a member has an unfortunate issue, but to belittle him for no reason.........NOT HAPPENING!

If you find it necessary to make comments like these, please DO NOT PM me wondering why the moderators and members are digging in your ass, as I am far too busy.

On the rear bumper picture I see a trailer hitch. Could it have been jack knifed into it?

If melted I still kind find it odd there would be enough heat shooting out to only melt the reflector and not the black portion.

Just a long shot but could have something else that was running been parked by the rear bumper and melted it? Riding lawn mower another vehicle.

Just rolling some ideas here for ya.
