I'm buying an extra 19" wheel and tire for my GT. It now has the bottle of goo and an air compressor which I plan on removing. What kind of jack will be best suited for the car and fit in the trunk well?

I used a scissors jack from a Saturn Coupe.

Does the GTO lug wrench fit on the G8 lug nuts? I think the GTO uses smaller lug nuts.

Alex94z,

Not sure about the lug nuts but I won't be using the lug wrench. I bought some chrome McGard lug nuts with wheel locks and they are 13/16. I went to Harbor freight and got a cheap long handled torque wrench which was on sale for $20. I have numerous 13/16 deep well sockets from the "old days" when most spark plugs were this size.

I recommend the spare tire kit from Pace Performance. It's the one from the v6 g8s and fits the contours of the spare tire well floor.

Got a jack from a wrecked Merc Grand Marquis, same as a Crown Vic jack. Fits in spare in trunk wheelwell quite nicely, & works very well raising the vehicle.

I ordered from Pace. Tried a jack from a Ford Aerostar van....wouldn't lift it!! Our cars sit so low that the jack couldn't scissor efficiently enough. Just wouldn't budge it!

On the topic of jacks...check your floor jacks....mine isn't low enough!!! Have to look for a smaller/lower one.

Just drive your car up on some 2x10 boards, then you can get the jack under the car.
