I'm in on this if we get enough people.I'm just spreading the word.

Send Alpinestar a PM if serious about buying one.

Hell my car hits everything as it is... I don't need it lower yet...

I like the look though.

I like the looks of a lip/splitter, but I'd have to raise the ride height and I don't want to do that...

Why would there be fitment issues? It's already been made, kinks worked out, and fitted. Looks like a perfect prototype for a mold.
Then again, I am NOT a fiberglass/body pieces expert at all, other than, having a Greenwood Body Kit made for my Vette back in the day.

If they make them to the same quality of the CF one there should be little to no prep time. Buying a cheap lip is a whole nother story :(

Well Folks, I have the pleasure of announcing that after much time, energy, patience, begging nicely, and persistence, AJ (Alpinestar) has given the OK to have his shop make a mold of the front lip spoiler and begin producing front lips. The spoiler will be called the SX Racing spoiler, which gives the producer/shop some publicity.

Here is a reminder or two as to what this looks like:

http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu40/SpeedRacerXPB/8492b2c8321359.gif

http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu40/SpeedRacerXPB/g8xtr4.jpg

The car and the one-off spoiler are at the shop. It is probably off the car tonight. A mold will be made this coming week. Production will begin in 1-2 weeks. If all goes well, front lips will ship in 2-3 weeks.

Guys, you've all been waiting for this. Now, we need to make this happen. The shop needs a 50% deposit commitment for 10. That's it, 10. The price is very attractive too! They are doing fiberglass for $299.95 + S&H & carbon fiber for $449.95 + S&H.

I have created a multi-page word doc that has everything: Pics, Links, Background, the Company making them, Status, How we make it happen, Options and Cost, Packing & Shipping, Mounting, Contact Info, and more...

PM your personal email address and I'll email you the document.

There is no other sponsor that makes anything like this, including Pedders (they borrowed it from Alpinestar for pictures), so hopefully I'm not offending anyone or violating any Forum rules for simply trying to help members get a cool product.

Please also indicate your interest in the poll located here http://forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=13624 so we can keep track of the number.

I hope you are all as excited as I am. When I got the PM today, I was shocked. After speaking with David at the shop and seeing the pictures from Alpinestar, I can't wait for this to be on my car.

Request the doc first then ask questions to me, directly with David at the shop, or preferably here on the Forum for anything that might be missed or unclear so we can all benefit.

Oh, and let's all give a big thanks to Alpinestar for agreeing to let this happen.

I don't know if this fits a GXP and I'm not sure the shop will know because it was made for the GT.

Anyone venture a guess as to how close in shape and dimension the lower bumpers are between the GT and the GXP?????????

Visually, I guess it's close and you could "make it work" but I don't know for sure.

- Latest batch of PMs replied to with emailed info.

- At the shop's request, the spoiler name has been changed to "SX Racing" Spoiler to more closely align with the producer's/shop's name.

- Way to go guys! After just 24 hours from when I posted the update, the polls on both Forums showed that over 15 people indicated they were ordering the spoiler in either fiberglass or carbon fiber.

Keep it going and don't forget to get your/our deposits in or the polls won't matter.

when do we have to put the deposit down?

Our deposits are the commitments. As soon as you can but I would think that we have through the end of the month to get our deposits in and build up a nice batch for the shop to produce. Some people have paid the deposit already, some will in the next day or two, and some have said they are waiting for certain paycheck date this month, etc...

I'd say if the deposit is not in by the end of the month, you might miss the first production run.

If you don't have all the details yet, please PM your email address so I get you the info. You can then contact the shop directly with any of your concerns.

No Way! Two Silver G8s running around South Jersey with this same front spoiler? Not a chance I'm sending you the info.

Then again, I could rob a bank, use my car as the getaway and then blame it on you - like a My Cousin Vinny scenario - except the difference that will crack the case won't be that one car had a solid axle posi rear and the other had IRS and no posi; it will be that one car had shorty headers and the other did not. :D

LOL emailing now.

Way to go guys! Over 40 info requests, 23 people indicated on the polls that they are buying, and a few deposits are in!

61% voted Carbon Fiber to 39% for Fiberglass.

The mold is being pulled this week.

For those who can't pay until later in the month, the shop will still be in production mode so you should be fine.

Good News Guys! I was told that the mold is basically done - just some final perfecting.

Should be producing the first spoiler hopefully on Monday!

Here is a link where the first 6 photos in the Album show the progress of the mold.

If anyone was on the fence waiting to see the mold, here it is.

The first test piece (not for sale) is out of the mold. First 3 photos of SX's facebook "mobile uploads" album show the first fiberglass unit.

Here are the photos of the first piece out of the mold:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=142945&id=257994742144

I was told they are making final adjustments to the mold (making it easier to "release" the part after it cures) today and Friday.

Production should kick off early next week.

Looking pretty good so far!

I'm sorry is this had been asked already..
Will this also attach to the GXP fascia?

I know of 2 GXP owners who have ordered. 1 said they'll "make it work" and 1 felt strongly that the lower edge of the GXP front spoiler (bottom inch or two and underneath) is no different than the lower edge of the GT front spoiler, except for the extra plastic insert piece the GXP has which is of no concern to how this new spoiler mounts or what it covers.

This hasn't been confirmed yet because the shop nor anyone else was able to measure up a GXP. If you have access to a tailor's tape measure and you can take measurements from wheel well to wheel well across that lowest part of the front edge of the front facia, PM me and let's compare because I have the GT measurements.

We'll know for sure in a month or two when the 2 GXP owners mount theirs. I've stared at GXP and G8/GT pictures for some time and the bottom looks identical. The differences start up higher near the fogs and lower grill(s).

if built correct you should use double sided tape on the top side and screws on the bottom (vertical from the ground up) and than a couple of screws in the fender wells. If done this way you can remove later and no one will ever know you had it on there.

How could anyone have paid in full yet when a total including shipping and handling needs to be paid before the spoiler will ship? No one knows the S&H number yet so no one has paid in full yet.

A deposit was the commitment to the shop and to hold a spot in line. Paying in full in advance is great but it doesn't allow us to leapfrog places in line or decks on the Titanic. Unless the person in front of you fails to pay in full. :boxing:

Don't worry...you can be the first Silver G8 in South Jersey with it.

There's a fiberglass one and a carbonfiber one. Each is made with it's respective material throughout the whole lip spoiler. At least that's the message I got from the whole deal. I do know this, it's going to be awesome!

It's wrapped in CF. If it was made out of CF it would be too expensive.

SpeedRacerX
02-11-2010, 07:30 AM
Correct AL & Yes, WhiteDeathLSX,

according to the shop:

"The material you will "see" on the carbon fiber version is 100% real carbon fiber reinforced on the backside with fiberglass."

"It is a 2x2 twill CF rather than plain weave. It will be vacuum-bagged to reduce or eliminate holes, pores, and provide a consistent and uniform thickness."

"The carbon fiber is put into the mold as the first layer, then reinforced with fiber glass etc. This way it is permanently laminated together with all the other layers."

"It is not "pre-preg" carbon fiber commonly used in the autoclave process."

I hope that helps.

These are going to look grrrr8 at a grrrr8 price given its size and complex shape.

Sorry to report guys that the SX Racing Spoiler will NOT perfectly fit the GXP. Alpinestar had a G8 with a GXP front bumper stop by the SX shop today and they tested it and took the pix below.

It is close to fitting but it's short on the sides a little and the opening up front doesn't quite match-up with the bump-up in the GXP front bumper.

I was told that a competent body shop might be able to do something to help the sides but you might have to live with the front mismatch.

I know some of you have said that "you'd make it work, no matter what." At least now you can see what you will be working with.

Shit, anyone in Virginia up for a GXP - GT fascia swap? :crazyman:

It'll be alright. I wasn't expecting it to line up perfectly in the front anyways. Hell, with the GT fascia there's still a little showing on the middle arch. On the sides there shouldn't be much to worry about either. I may just shave the sides down to have them gradually grade towards the fascia. It'll be all good, the side spacing won't be all that different from chin spoilers I've had on previous rides ( Charger R/T), and I received nothing but compliments about that one. The side spacing looks about the same too so it's gonna be chill.

Here's what I had on a Dodge Charger, as you may notice it didn't wrap all the way around the front from edge to edge. On the GXP, the SX Spoiler won't either but it will be much closer. Of course you could always cut it to be in line with the front fascia contour.:

Damn, that blows, Monty. But, like you said you have fiberglass and can make it look good again. I had a similar chin spoiler on my charger, beat the hell out of it, took awhile to learn how to negotiate daily driving on uneven surfaces. It is possible though, there's just a learning curve. I bought fiberglass for that exact reason cause I know I'm bound to bite it at least once

I'm going to try something that may or may not work. I've been thinking about the best way to keep this spoielr from being scarred up. I'm going to have a friend of mine who owns a local Rhino Linings put some sort of protective laminate on the spoiler in MGM. We'll see how it looks before I start counting chickens. He says he can make it smooth enough to look pretty. Hope he's right.

Good news, ladies. I test fit the SX spoiler to my GXP, and it does indeed wrap all the way around. Looks promising. Once installed this Saturday I'll have pictures to validate. Things are looking up!

Edit: it's definitely fitting. For those who have a GXP and SX, it works with said car.

Appears to fit the GXP - some have been waiting.

Does anyone know the distance between the spoiler and the bottom of the bumper in the center?
