The Heater Hose Relocation Kit is a GRRRR8 mod and looks much nicer....

but for those who prefer to travel down the cheaper route, this is what I did. The engine cover will fit back on top and hide everything nicely.

Bought black header wrap off of ebaY for $25 shipped to my door. Wear gloves when applying.

I may go back and wrap the entire upper hose, but I don't think it would help much more. I was focused on keeping my MAF sensor cool, and this worked. I can hold onto the wrapped hose near the MAF when the rest of the exposed hose is too hot to touch.

I was just looking at some header wrap in the JCWhitney outlet store and wondered if it would work. Cool.

Or, if you live down South like me, you can simply remove those hoses and cap the ends. I need a heater about 3 days out of the year.

I hope you don't overheat your engine by retaining too much heat.

(haha just for fun!)

Or you could take some of that heat wrap and make a little turtleneck.

Just a thought.

I know a lot of folks say take the engine cover completely off and leave it off, due to heat retention. But I have to tell you, without it, it looks like an engine made at the Peoples Number 72 Tractor Factory outside of Moscow.

Totally agree! I leave mine on when it's not summer weather....I've also removed all the foam from the back (PITA), so it retains a little less heat :)

The big thing is to take the cover off the intake plenum as well as the dense foam sandwiched in between them. I have them all taken off. The hood covers my engine. Nothing else is needed IMO unless you're at a car show.

This could lead to another "Cheap-*ss" mod: instead of engine swaps, just swap out that beautiful Tupperware cover! I could make it any brand I wanted. Think I'll do the first Audi V10 mod. Or maybe that big M/B cover. The possibilities seem to be endless!!!

Off to the junk yard with the rattle-can! Pix later!

I'll race my tractor looking engine against your plastic covered v-6.
