Last night I was on the home from my softball game and this little solstice gxp pulls next to me and wants some. So I play with him a little just to show him he really doesn't want any. All of the sudden this brand new gtr pulls up next to me and starts jumping like he wants some. I knew i had no chance but I said what the hell lets see what I got. So we run from about 60 to 120 and of course he wins but I was shocked how close it was. He beat me by a car at the most a car and a half. Do u guys think he was just playing around or going all out. It sounded like he was in it the whole time but I thought that he would destroy me. I can't wait to get cammed maybe it would have been a different story.

you have a quick car, His is quicker. I would have imagined his would have put more distance on you, but who knows?? You are runing 12.65. He still has you by almost a full second in the 1/4. But from a roll, It is a little different.

I was thinking the same thing..I think he must have started in the wrong gear or something.

I've literally only seen about 3 of these cars on the road. They are quite bad ass looking.

Nah, I saw 2 of them at the track one day, best for both was 12.2.

So...your 4 dr car basically hung with an $80,000.00 sports car on the highway. Nice.

The AWD helps them in the 1/4. That's why their time is so much better. It weighs as much as we do, and only has 100 more hp and 50 more tq. And, because it's AWD, it has much more driveline loss. So, at the wheels, you're at 384rwhp and 344rwtq for the GTR, and 306rwhp (down 78) and 327rwtq (down 38) for us (using manufacturer data).

Yeah, it'll win, but not by much.

Who cares, you won and thats what matters. It was probably fun right? Who cares about crappy driver this or wrong gear that. Congrats and be safe!

Actually he lost, and we are speculating why it was so close.

I think a big part of the reason that the GT-R is so quick in the 1/4, is due to the incredible launches you get out of them. Off a roll is obviously going to be a little different. If your car runs 12.65, I'm not surprised you were able to almost hang. Sounds like a fun race!

From a roll off they aren't that fast. I had a post a while back and took one fairly easy from around 70mph. They launch well, thats about it. You find that with a lot of the AWD cars, they depend solely on holeshot.

Exactly, the AWD traction on the bottom end makes for some really low 60' times, but the parasitic losses from the AWD drivetrain negate some of the gains you get off the line.

By doing a roll on race you've taken the AWD's main strength out of the equation.

That would have been a sweet vid!
