Total GXP Production Projections

Alright folks, I have been tracking GXP production since June, and I am getting impatient. I have verified 357 GXPs (and now new ones are trickling in very slowly), and with the list of the remaining GXPs and their options, that puts me up to about 409 GXPs total. That is 22.36% of overall production, and a very solid statistical sampling. I have noticed since I got over 200 cars that the percentages of options have stabilized quite a bit. That makes me feel confident in printing the information below. First let me say THESE ARE NOT OFFICIAL NUMBERS, they are projections carried out based on the statistics that I have gathered so far. They are based on the following percentages:

Sunroof 73.11%
No Sunroof 26.89%

Onyx Interior 71.88%
Onyx/Red Interior 28.12%

Manual Trans 56.97%
Automatic Trans 43.03%

These numbers could change slightly once official stats come out, which will influence the results. Just like the media on election days, the actual results may be slightly different, but I am confident enough to put them in writing. Down the road we'll see how close I am. Here are my predictions as of September 22, 2009.

I'd love to say yes, but there ain't no way I am going to try to tackle that! I am having a tough enough time tracking down GXPs, and they only made 1,829 of them. They built 16,486 GTs in 2009 alone. I think I will leave that for a rabid G8 GT owner to tackle, and I will wish them luck.

I think my projections will begin to get their first real test as I get the more unusual colors verified. I am now up to 40% of all the Pacific Slate GXPs verified, and nearly 36% of the Stryker Blue GXPs verified. Below are actual vs. projected stats on those 2 colors so far:

How do you find out what number yours is? Is it in the VIN? When I get one how will I know?

You won't be able to find out exactly which car in line you are unfortunately, unless you got 1 of the first 888 2008 G8s, that were all built sequentially. Otherwise the VINs were shared by all cars that rolled down the line. There do seem to have been "clusters" of GXPs that all got built together though, so you may find cars that were built 1 behind the other. The folks above are referring to my projections of how many GXPs were built with their exact set of options (color, transmission, interior color, and sunroof status).

Those who list that they have #xxx of 888 had one of the first G8s to roll out. They got a special numbered plaque, and were all built sequentially. The others are referring to the list in post #1. These are projections based on statistics I have gathered from nearly 400 GXPs verified. Does that make sense? Example: My GXP is White Hot with a 6-speed manual, onyx/red interior, and no sunroof. Based on my projections, only about 13 cars were built like it (so far I have only verified 4 besides mine out of about 400). That makes my car 1 of about 13.
