Well it looks like its time to finally consider a differential change. Rolled off with a buddy's M6 yesterday, and although I knew he would win, it was disheartening to know a large factor is the gearing of the car. We "played" from a 60 or so roll. He pulled away slowly the entire time, never really walked away. Dang it. a win is a win, so a loss is a loss, but at least it was to a car with close to a total of 100K in it.

Anyone know when a unit will be available?

Rear Diff?? JHP or are you looking for state side only?

What did the M6 have done to it or is that confidential :)

He's friend of mine so I won't "out" him on a forum. He has me at the wheels by about 80-90 hp. Thankfully the M5/6 engines peak out relatively high in the rpm range so we have them below 6k. the M6 do have the variable ration gearbox's though, that makes them vicious. I can deal with having a diff shipped, I just don't want a 3.4? or 3.7?, just the 3.2?

3.27... PM Andy at Livernois maybe he can find one state side. From my last pm to him about them there are no more in the states. Cost was about the same as JHP. After my cam goes in next week I'll how it runs with the stock TC. If it's fine might order the 3.27

I sent Andy a text at 10pm on SAT night.........GM has no diffs available in the US and they don't know when one will be available.

Right now I believe JHP is the only option out there.

Thats what it sounded like to me last time I PMed Andy....

Guess I might have to sit on Santa's lap this yeak and ask for the red ryder BB gun with the compass in the stock(aka 3.27 diff :) )

I've been lookin at 3.45's I didn't want to go too small and regret it later, but I do understand street racing and not wanting to have to shift the extra time...

all at 6600 rpm I am a cammed car...

my calculations say
3.27's will give you 139 in 4th and 188 in 5th
3.45's 132 and 178
3.70's 123 and 166

here are the gear ratios...

2.92
11.7676
6.8912
4.4676
3.358
2.482
1.9564

3.27
13.1781
7.7172
5.0031
3.7605
2.7795
2.1909

3.45
13.9035
8.142
5.2785
3.9675
2.9325
2.3115

3.7
14.911
8.732
5.661
4.255
3.145
2.479

NOW looking at the numbers if you went with 3.70's you'd shift an extra time, BUT look at 5th ratio its almost the same as 4th on 2.92's...

so my question would be... if you race to around 140 I can see staying with 3.27's if faster then I see no reason to not go 3.45's or heck why not 3.70's lol

I'm curious as to the reasoning behind it as I know you don't run the qtr mile much.

I wouldn't think they'd use all the gears in a street race, but I'm no expert.

Now if you mean they wouldn't be as far into the upper gear ratios and thats an advantage I guess I can see that.

A little more gear and a little more power will fix the issue :)

and I doubt they are racing to 200 on the street I really don't think its that big of an issue 3.45's would work if you are racing past 178 even on a secluded interstate you are more of a man than me. most races I see end between 140 and 160...

3.45's and 3.70's will kill mileage. I'm always happy that with my NA power I can get a proven 26-27 mpg. Thankfully I can turn mine higher if I want (7200) I just prefer not to. I think the 3.27 would be pretty ideal. I have power to run with them, we all know torque moves the car, not HP; but that 2.92 just doesn't give the multiplication.

When it comes to a serious race here, we do hit some high speeds but the 160+'s are rare. Any faster than that and I'll bring out my 2 door coupe instead of the 4 door. Pity they won't play with it more often. Its 3300lbs and 1075hp w/ a M6 lol

I hear you on the gas mileage I'm averaging 23-24 on the highway with my setup, but in town about 15... real world mileage 16mpg avg or so b/c I can't keep my foot out of it LOL

I don't think 3.45's are really going to matter the way I drive maybe drop one more mpg, but I also don't expect great mileage out of a v8 putting out decent power to the rear wheels...

Livernois had to source a 3.27 diff for me from JHP last week. I tried waiting for GM US to get their act together but it's just not happening right now.
