2009 G8 GT vs 2004 GTO

The 2004 GTO is an M6, stock except for a B&M shifter. The GTO has about 8,000 miles on it, dynoed 300 rwhp and 325 rwtq on a dynojet, and has run a best of 13.7 @ 104mph.

First run was from a dig. I got a little better launch and slowly pulled about a car lead by 100 mph. After 100 the pull stopped and no one gained or lost any ground.

Second run was from about 20 mph. We both hit it and I jumped out about 1/2 a car. From there I slowly pulled until I was a little over 1 car in front at about 100 mph where we let out.

Third run we went from 50 mph. I pulled about a car to 100 mph and then to 120mph no one gained or lost ground.

Fourth run we went from about 30 mph. I started 1/2 car back (my nose midway on his door). Three honks and we hit it. I slowly pulled, but I could hear him shifting the balls off it, with it chirping on the 1-2 shift and on the 2-3 shift. By about 100 mph they were even with my car having maybe a bumper on him. It was even to 110 mph and then 110-120 mph it looked like he was VERY SLOWY creeping back putting us about dead even when we let off at 120 mph.

Overall I was very pleased with the performance of my car considering that the GTO is slightly lighter, M6, and should make about the same power as my car. I can't wait to get to the track and hope to see a 13.6 out of it on a decent day!

Yeah, he was in first for the 20 mph roll and the 30 mph roll. He actually hung alot better when starting from 30mph, which suprised me a bit.

Damn it's an 04 with only 8,000 miles... Did someone's grandmother drive the car before he got it?
I figured he GTO might pull you up top, he's trapping a little higher at 104. I haven't ran into a G8 yet, a friend at work has 1 with a catback and a cold air kit. I think from a dig I should eat him alive, but from a roll he should do a lot better. I wish I could install a G8 transmission in my car, I enjoy having an Auto... I just hate all the dead spots when running on the highway. I'll pull hard up until about 135ish then I run into 4th gear and it just isn't the same. Good kill

I ran against an 04 GTO M6 over the weekend. I had 3 people in the car(including me) and was able to slightly pull on him on the top end. Cool guy gave me the thumbs up I think he liked my car(who doesn't lol j/k) It was not really a race as much as it was just screwing around. I also screwed around with a S197(05+ Mustang) and had similar results. I am stock as most of you know and I have no idea about the others.

Now I just need the Vararam and VMS tune and can pick on some bigger stuff.

I think we are about even with the 04 GTOs and S197s.

P.S. the GTO and I had to go around a suped up 350Z....but I don't think he wanted to mess with us.

My wife has taken on a '04 Goat as well herself, purple in fact, but it was an auto. 1 dig race - won by 2-3 cars and 2 rolls from 20 & 40, won by 2 cars each time. She was also racing another girl so there might have been a bit of !driver mod going on there!:boxing:

Yea it was set up by a buddy of mine w/ an '00 SS that I've raced frequently, his g/f has the GTO and just BS-ing one day, the topic came up of the girls racing.....so w/in an hour we were both in the passenger seats watching our women go! Nothing sexier BTW.

I race @ the track occasionally but my wife does 99% of the racing, and she's hooked. I posted about 1/2 a year ago on the forums and this one about her winning the races we have here locally in the women's class. She's getting mod fever too so that's what my bonus $$ is going towards! :woohoo:
