Hello, I live in Northern Kentucky (Cincinnati Metro Area) And I took delivery of a White Hot G8 GT last Saturday. I am kind of pissed at GM's build quality because on day 4 the leather or whatever material started to peel off of my drivers side door handle. It really pissed me off, but I really bought the car for the engine, not the door handle. I am kind of jealous at everyone with Stryker Blue GT's with a sunroof and the premium wheels. I looked for a long time for a blue one, but I settled on a white one. And the white is really growing on me. So I am here looking for a good cable for my ipod Touch 2g that has the ipod plug on one end and the 1/8" AUX mini jack on the other end. I hear that the radio can control the ipod, but until I see it I won't believe it.
Believe it or not I already have a list of "issues" with the car that are bothering me.
1) Door handle material peeling off the door.
2) flimsy rear windows (when the rear windows are down 1/2 way you can literally pull the glass itself up there is that much play)
3) thin flimsy glass all around
4) the fuse cover just fell off around my feet while driving. It didnt seem to be secured very well.
5) RDS seems to be lacking in the radio (seriously they had this in 1998).
6) mp3 file name support seems to be a bit lacking
7) no HID headlight option
8) bluetooth, I here this is a hot button topic around here.
9) one accessible power outlet, should be more
10) this last one is a big my fault, but bear in mind mine was lacking an owners manual. ( the Dealer has ordered me one ) But the gas cap is weird. I was below 1/4 tank and I pulled into the gas station and couldn't figure out how to open the gas cap. Normally they have a finger groove for the manual open ones. But on the g8 its flush. It seemed to me every flush one had a release somewhere in the car. So here I am at the gas station looking for the fuel release. So finally I drove to the dealership and asked how I put gas in my car. Yeah I looked stupid. But I blame that on me not being able to read the manual.
But overall I love the car, I hated the stock gt wheels at first. But they are growing on me. They really only look good on the white or silver cars. But I could not convince the wife to let me get a new car (with the upgraded wheels) and then go have to buy new tires before the snowy season.
So it's nice to meet you all and I think I may hold onto this car for a long while.
