View Full Version : Whine Going Into 2nd gear

It starts about 2500 rpm and the 1st to 2nd shift is the only time it does it. I brought it into the dealer and got the answer "it's normal" it's a performance car. Performance or not, I don't think it should whine. Any suggestions?

Whine, like a belt whine or tranny gear whine?

I'm pretty sure it's a tranny whine since it only does it going from 1st to 2nd.

Take it in and complain about that specific issue. Have them check the fluid. Many have been low :(

Be sure to flash back to the stock tune before visiting the dealership ;)

Are you sure it's not the alternator? You can hear mine in every video I've posted.

I do hear the alternator when I start the car. Would the alternator make that whine only when going into 2nd gear with rpm's around 2500? It happens every time. I would expect to hear it in other gears if that is the case. Maybe not.

might be that it is only noticable 1-2 due to increase in platform (background) noise.

Yeah, I am at my wits end. Their tranny guy says no problem with it. Don't know what recourse i have. But you know if it gets worse and starts slipping or something they will blame it on my driving style and try to not fix it down the road. That's why I am trying to get it documented.

2500 is about where mine is the loudest.

I can hear it on the 2-3 shift if I'm not getting on it. After about 40 or so the wind noise is too loud to hear it well.

Thanks G8 Ray. Mine only does it going into second, that's why I'm pretty sure it's the tranny.
