How many times have you hit the rev limiter shifting gears manually. I did it again last night racing a Mustang. We left the light and there were rail road tracks on the other side of the intersection. So we roll slow over the tracks and I had the car in 1st then I went WOT and second gear came way faster than I thought it would and slammed the rev limiter :spank:. I guess the new mods do make the car faster....and I guess I need some more seat time.

I've done it once on the 1-2 shift.

I've done it several times. One time it shifted just as it hit the limiter and I got a pretty loud exhaust POP! This was on a stock tune. Now I always look at the RPMs on 1-2 because it happens so fast that sound doesn't do it for me.

You shouldn't be racing in manual anyway. You really think you can be as consistent as the TCM? no chance.

I wasn't racing, I usually use it on the thruway so I can down shift to the gear I want for passing etc.

I agree the TCM is definitely better at WOT.

I don't but this time since there was a railroad crossing I wanted to stay in first so after the tracks I was not taking off in 2nd.

Never because I drive it for what it is, an auto. :o

Does anyone actually use the manual mode on this thing? I toy around with it from time to time but never actually use it.

I hardly use the manual mode. I would have much rather had paddle shifters instead of the shiftronic or whatever they call it.

I have done it three times. Once all stock and didn't hear the rpms (totally caught me off guard) The other two times with a 1-2 shift (the shift took longer than I thought it would) I still have the stock tune with just an exhaust and intake. I'll be tuned this week though.

Surprisingly, the manual mode is great for a roll race for me. I can get the jump on cars easily and I just have to watch the rev's between my shifts.

Any problems with starting in manual then moving over to normal drive mode before the 1-2 change at WOT? Is it wrong to change drive modes at WOT?
