is the G8 GT really much faster than a GP GXP?

is the g8 gt really much faster than a gp gxp? i was playing with one on the highway and to my surprise my car didnt have much on it we never took off from a stop just took off from about 20 than again from about 30 miles an hour. i thought he would be toast ! but i was wrong. i was faster but not by much. plus two kids were driving the gxp, and im not experienced race driver either i did have it in auto sports mode.. oh and i know nothing about gxp either.
