I got my front end off and am in the middle of a lot of work. New trunnion bushings (Manton), new brake lines, new radiator and heater hoses, new fog light assemblies (Morimoto), and I have a Halon fire Extinguisher to mount.

I realize there have been horror stories on the comp trunion kit - is it to the point where even on low mile/limited use vehicles it still makes sense to move away from them? Has it turned into that widespread of an issue? Has the new (Manton) kit been verified to actually be an improvement in all areas (other than -just- no needle bearings??

Well, Comp, Staub, and Manton (maybe others) have all come out with bushing kits so I'd say YES. My thing is, I don't want to ruin an engine, let alone one as expensive as the one in my car because I didn't heed the warnings of others. Livernois NEVER recommended the Comp bearing kit for the reasons now known. I went with the Manton because it gets pretty good reviews. It's a LOT more money than the Staub however.

Haven't ever taken the time to read the reports on the comp trunion kit issues. I've got them in mine now, maybe should just pull them.

Searched for the Manton kit, couldn't find anything. You have a P/N?

I am using the comp cams trunion kit. I posted about it. You may not recall but I did a selective fit when I installed it. I have never stickied my own threads.
My car has sat for LONG periods of time, but it's been ran HARD when not resting.
    Rest in Peace Charlie!

How did it go with removing the front clip? Easy like the video shows or were there unpleasant surprises?

CHE is another good one but doesn't have washers separating the bushings and C-clips

Easy as hell! Time consuming getting all the bolts removed (especially with a 7 and 5 year old saying "daddy look" all the time) but it's not bad at all. Have a place to set it with towels so not to scratch it though. It's big!
I got to use my new cordless Milwaukee 3/8" drive and I'm in LOVE! Makes such quick work of bolts. SERIOUSLY good purchase.

Not sure why I couldn't find it. The site looked different too. Hmm... I did get a chance to read the info about them in their catalog though. I sent them an email the other day asking about longevity and how often (mileage) I should check them, but have yet to hear back from them.

They say that valve train noise should be reduced over the bearings and vibration reduced. While they move a lot, they don't move far so they should last me and my 100-200 mile a year adventures! HAHAHA

Awesome, I'm glad to hear removing the front clip was issue-free. I will probably do it myself this summer at my parent's house since that is the only garage/driveway I have in my life.

I'm surprised Manton didn't return your call. I emailed them through their web site after I placed an order last week asking their recommendation on rocker arm bolts. While I didn't hear back from them right away, they actually called me yesterday! And said that stock rocker arm bolts are fine with my engine and the amount of power it makes.
