Default Solo or not to solo

So I did not do my research and decided to throw some slp loudmouth axle backs on with stock exhaust. After a painful 5 hours on the highway at 1700rpm going 70 mph I am now deaf and my children are too. (Sarcasm) I am looking for something that sounds aggressive, has some hp gains and can be daily driven for hours at time with out making me deaf from the dreaded drone.

I have read and listened to the solo threads and clips. Does anyone have experience with any of the solo set ups? I do not plan on putting LTH’s on at this point, but down the road I will. What will work with the factory manifolds and cats and then be compatible to LTH’s down the road?

    Thanks for the input.

If you’re still running with the AFM try running with it disengaged and see if that helps. I have the Mach shorty unbalanced with long tubes. I like the way it sounds, but the DOD in mine is long gone.

I have the AFM tuned out... is there any gains by having the full solo system vs axle back solos?

Better exhaust flow with any of their catback systems since they're 2.5".

Headers will be noticeable gains and g8 is one of the easiest headers install around. Oem midsection is very constricted and catback is needed to support big mods like S/C and cams or if you justlike loud exhaust. I have Kooks headers, hfc, catback connected to GXP axlebacks and love it : quiet at cruising, screams at wot and no drone. Headers and hfc will require tuning, and tuning is recommended to optimize a power mod.

Solo's are great because they're relatively inexpensive, but IMO they sound so-so at best and they oxidize and look like poo after a while. Borla, Stainless Works, and Corsa all use 304 stainless and it looks beautiful for years and lasts longer too, not to mention NO drone and quiet while cruising.

My vote is for the three above that I listed, but they're not for the budget-minded modder.

If you want drone free, or less drone, the corsa or solo is the way to go.
SW says theirs doesn't, and users of the Borla say it doesn't either.

I edited my comment. I could've sworn borla was on the drone list, but may have just confused with magnaflow. Either way, I took the time to do a quick search and people that complain about the borla droning are nearly non-existent. And a few folks saying they have the borla and no drone at all. (not just "I heard they don't drone")

    LOL!

The SW setup is fairly new and from what I've heard, fairly mellow as well which is nice. They claim no drone. Executor999 bought the kit so we'll soon see.
