Anymore, I don't give much consideration to all the BS drama in the news...however, there is one topic that we ALL need to be aware of. Everyone...including YOU, the owners of THIS website, and anyone who uses a smart phone or the internet.

The current FCC lead wants to end a federal regulation that requires Internet Service Providers to provide a 'free' internet connection to their customers. By 'free', this does not mean cost, this means content....as in FREEdom.

If the FCC lead gets his wish, then this will open the door for Internet Service Providers (ISP) to begin filtering your internet access based on what internet package you choose to pay for.

Whereas now you can access ANY site you wish, because you pay for the bandwidth from your ISP. They already regulate how much bandwidth and speed you get. That's required to maintain a reliable Internet service to customers.

What IS NOT required to provide internet service is FILTERING of the CONTENT.

An example of what could happen (and will if this regulation is reversed)....Charter/Spectrum would offer an internet package in which you could ONLY access social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) for a 'discount' price of $9.95 a month. Great, right? Sure....but now you can't access news, Bing, Yahoo, Google, email, etc.!!! Oh wait....then if you want that, you can pay for the next tier package of $19.95 for email and social media access. Better? Oh wait, what about youtube, netflix, and hulu? Sure, you can buy that for $39.95....better? Oh wait, what about education/college research for class? You didn't pay for access to .edu sites, etc!!! You see where I am going here? And....what about access to THIS site? What if Charter ISP doesn't want to add forums to a package?

If the FCC gets their wish, bandwidth will be further segregated for money-making purposes. This defeats the WHOLE purpose of the Internet, to FREELY connect people/devices.

Keep the ISP providing the road (bandwidth) and leave the content (websites) to the people who own them. Don't censor the internet!

So......be aware, be ready.....now you know.
