Hello Ladies and Gents,

Well as the title states i'm new to this forum. I'm on other forums for my other cars so i know pretty well how they are ran. My name is Donte and right now i reside in Colorado. I currently don't own a G8 at the moment but i fell in love with them when they was first announced by Pontiac. I'm in the market and shopping around locally for one but i'm finding it kinda hard due to the limit years of production. I'm supposed to go check one out this weekend up in Denver. I'm only interested in the GT or GXP in White Hot, Maverick Silver, Magnetic Gray, Liquid Red or Panther Black. Panther Black is last on my list due to scratches and swirl marks being easily visible. Sunroof and Leather are a must.

With that being said what are some of the common problems that you all run into with the G8 and what are some things i really need to look for. Between the 08 & 09 which is better and why? Please refer me to any existing threads/topics that could help me out. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your search.
Don't let the sunroof be a deal breaker, and if you find one, make sure she's dry inside.
They can tend to leak.

Like the previous gentlemen stated. Dont let a sunroof get in the way of your purchase. Heard some negatives about the sunroof on our G8s.

Depending on what you want to spend. There is some nice clean G8s and GXPs out there for sale.

The GT GXP had Some issues with the Lower Control Arms (LCAs). Also some had the dreadful lifter issue due to DOD (Displacement on Demand). Many owners who had the issue upgraded with a DOD Delete cam package.

A for a GXP. I never really heard of multiple issues. The LCA issue was the only one

Went up to Denver to check out a white 08 GT for sell. Car was in decent shape, id say exterior 7 out of 10 and interior 6 out of 10. Odometer was reading 130k, motor felt strong but brakes need to be done in the front (steering wheel was shaking during braking). Dealer wants $15.5k tried to talk them down but they are not budging sooo looks like i'm still searching.
