    Default Cel p2272

My CEL on my stock 2009 GT randomly came on a few days ago. I took it to a friend who read the code as P2272, Oxygen sensor signal stuck lean bank 2 sensor 2.

It looks like that is the O2 sensor on the passenger side, behind the catalytic convertor...is that true? Is it easy to replace? Any idea what GM part number I would use to order a new one?

Is there anything else that I am missing?

Could be anything on this list:

    Possible Causes Setting Conditions
Check for air leaks in the exhaust manifold and in the exhaust pipes
Excess fuel vapors in crankcase (the oil needs to be changed)
EVAP system component has failed or canister fuel saturated
Check for air leaks in PCV system and its related hoses and/or valve
Check for air leaks in Air Induction system (e.g., in intake manifold)
Check for air leaks in front of the MAF sensor location
HO2S has failed (it may be contaminated with fuel, silicone, water)
Inspect vacuum hoses for splits, kinks, and proper connection
Inspect the ECM power and ground circuits for high resistance
Base engine "mechanical" fault affecting one or more cylinders
Fuel injector(s) is leaking or stuck partially open (one or more)
Fuel delivery system supplying too much fuel during cruise or idle periods (e.g., faulty fuel pump, or faulty pressure regulator)
Fuel control sensor is out of calibration (e.g., ECT, IAT or MAF)

Why having a scanner capable of monitoring the sensor is vital. BUt if you want to try a new sensor that might solve the problem.

Think the GM part you want is 92068713

Just swap the rear O2s first,if the code then shows bank1 sensor 2,then just replace the sensor, before throwing parts at it,The rear O2 codes will not have any affect on anything,The pcm is just seeing the voltage stay too low for too long in its mapping, consistant with a faulty O2 in rear of conv

I was going to just swap the sensors to make sure that was the issue at hand. The driver's side came out without issue but the passenger side took some persuading. I was able to remove the O2 sensor but the threads on the sensor are completely stripped and it appears that the threads in the hole are also since I can't get the good one to re-thread at all. Is this something that can be re-tapped? Any idea what size I would need. This is all new to me.

I actually bought a thread chaser and did what I could. It wasn't good enough. Ended up going to the local muffler shop and having them cut out that section and weld in a new one with the bung. Waiting on the new O2 sensor to arrive. Hopefully it installs without issue.
