Default Johnson lifter push rod question/issues

Ok. Had ls7 lifter failure replaced them with Johnson lifters. Almost had the heads Milled .005 more than I had (.035) have had hell figuring out pushrod length. I went with 7.275. Valveterrain has been quiet. Made decent power on the dyno. But the idle sounds completely different than before I had the heads Milled more ported and changed lifters. Like is sounds lose. Anyways. I went to check pushrod length and found some of the lifters if I push down on the push rod with no rocker on them some is springy and some is stiff. If I have lifters going bad again I need to know I'm tired of working on this car and want to enjoy it again. And if Anyone wants I have idle vids of before and after this work. Again only thing I changed was lifters. Push rods and had the heads ported and milled .004 more for a total of .040

Which lifters did you get? There are 4 different part number for the LS.
    Rest in Peace Charlie!

Not sure about the Johnson lifters but with LS7's and heads decked 0.035-0.040, proper push rod length is 7.400.

For as relatively cheap as they are, have you thought about buying a pushrod length checker and just using that? If you're that worried, it'd give you a definitive answer as quick as possible... Comp 7702-1 is less than $30 and you'd be good to go, as it measures 6.8 to 7.8 in .050 increments.
