Is there a good FAQ or buyers guide. I looked briefly but couldn't find one. The E46 M3 crowd has some really solid information for prospective buyers.

Dont know about any specific buyers guides, however you should really be on the lookout for:

Noisy lifters - if the DoD lifters are in there, you should remove them. Wouldn't trust them for a DD over 100k miles, if that. (LS7 lifters have been shown to be a servicable replacement if removing DoD as long as good springs and right pushrod length for cam are used)
Broken timing chain tensioner - puts plastic bits in your oil pan, LS2 tensioner more durable design.
Noisy front suspension - notably the LCAs. (updated LCAs available)
Transmission Flare @ 2-3 shift - (GM has revised seals to address this)
Alternator/battery circle of death - one kills the other, so on and so forth
CD changer stops ejecting or playing CDs
Driver/Passenger seat panel near door sill breaks loose under heavy use (revised panel available)
    2009 PBM G8 GT
Pat G 218/226 & TSP Dual 660s, ARP Bits, DSteck Tuned, Magnacharger Chrome 2300 1:1, RCR Ported/Polished TB, Blower, & L92 Heads w/ LS3 intake valves, Smith Brothers Trunion Bushing Kit, ARH 1 7/8 Magnaflow MidMuff/Solo Axlebacks, RotoFab, VaporWorx PWM 1:1 fuel system, ID1050x injectors
Mike Norris Motorsports Catchcan, AEM 30-4100, JHP Boost/Fuel Gauge Pod
TSW Nurburgring Matte Gray 18" w/Nitto 555 & 555R, Satin Black SS Brembo Fronts, BMR Trailing Arms, Pedders Sway Bars, Whiteline Bushings
Gloss Black Valve Covers, 6k HID, V6 Handles, Interior/License Plate LEDs, Debadged, Holden Black Trim, Polk Dxi, GXP diffusor, a few bits from Crazy Paul

I purchased a 2009 Panther Black GT this weekend. The car came with solo j pipes, a CAI, Camaro 20s and brembos on all 4 corners.
Previous owner rebadged the car and and rims are powered coated black.

I'm enjoying this car every time I drive it. Thanks for the areas to pay attention to.

I am going to pull the chrome window trim and paint it. Trying to decide if I want to paint the trim one of three colors
    Dupli color trim gloss black
    Dupli color trim flat black
Or order body color spray paint

I need to figure out how I want to address the chrome trim on the door handles. The left rear has some bumbling and I'm not sure how well the paint would adhere to the chrome trim on the handles.
