Value my G8 for private party sale

Thanks gentlemen. I do have a carfax generated by the dealership. Outside of the obvious, it does show regular maint.
My bank with A paper credit would not loan anything on the car. State Farm will not put a value on it. A link to this thread was sent to my lawyer, so I ask those to consider their language when posting.

What a bank values the car at and someone looking for one are two different things. That is why I valued it as such. If it was just a bank or dealer then the value is lower.

Family works for insurance industry so I sent a email to cousin ..Got the value if Travelers had to replace it, retail sale max and whole seller at my brothers dealer.

Retail 10-12k max
Insurance replacement as is with salvaged title = 7-9k
Wholesale est. (your going to laugh Ray) 5-6k

I asked my agent to give a hypothetical value for a car I was looking to buy & Because of salvage title & accident he said value is about $10k

Ray, Nothing you don't already know. Salvage title kills it. Puts you that far behind for any long term value of the car. Some value in the engine, but the repaint also kills the "as it sits" value in my eyes.

We all know that modding these cars can help them retain value, but it doesn't ADD any value (maybe holds off depreciation a bit, but nowhere near offsets the cost of the mods themselves). They're in the too old but not old enough window.

I'd expect it to sell private party for the 12k range because of rough paint and rebuilt title, but a dealer probably wouldn't want to touch it for more than 8k on a trade.

The car goes back to the body shop for the paint. I'm keeping the car and taking it to Texas with me. We came to an agreement yesterday. Court is scheduled for Friday.

Good luck Ray. I know this one hasn't been easy for you. Realistically I think you could get 11-12k for the car as it sits, but if your ex is asking maybe $199.99 and don't forget to emphasize that extra 0.99 cents. You can even tell her she can can keep the extra penny.
