Got a C0161 this morning on the way to work. Flashed up as Stability Control is off. It did this 3 weeks ago when i drove it home from the dealership. I cleared the code and hasnt come back til this morning. I turned her off and restarted and the stability control was fine.
Is this the brake switch sensor behind the brake pedal?
C0161 is only set during the duration of the ignition cycle. There is a fault with the brake switch circuit.
Check for DTC B3445. If present then check brake lamp circuit. Press the brake pedal. If stop lamps are inop fix that first.
Otherwise if lamps are good.
The brake switch should have 12 volts when not depressed. Make sure the parking brake is completely released. That can also set the code.
