For a G8 to replace my old and tired 2000 Grand Prix. Are there anything to look for or ask about when scoping out the G8s? I'm seeing the prices for these cars all over the place. There is a local G8 base that has 49k miles and looks like it's in excellent condition and they want $16,900 which seems high. Others I'm seeing have about 60,000-75,xxx miles around $13,000 ish. I think I rather have the gt with the v8. Insurance for the gt is like $11 more over 6 month period than the base G8. Any advice or tips are welcomed

Doubt you'd be happy for long with a base model of anything. Only takes one look at an upgraded model...
Sit tight, the right one will come along.

GT +1. Back in 09 was considering a Base/V-6. The wife said "What? Are you nuts!" Nuff said.

The stock struts, strut bushings and shocks were crap so if they were upgraded that would be a plus (but not a deal breaker). Also, any noises from the front end would have to be chased down and repaired.

These are the GTs in my area. All have leather, some have the red sport leather and it's a hit and miss on sunroofs. Hate to pay $17,000'for a car that's 7 years old. Dang. Decisions decisions

Check out the threads about sunroof leaks. They've been a nightmare to some...
With parts getting harder to find, roof. Isn't be a liability down the road?????

True but there isn't much difference between the base and GT. It has the same suspension and same appearance as each other. Only difference is wheels and tails (and engine of course). You can get base models with leather, sunroof and blaukpunkt radio.

I was singling out the sunroof as an option. Just me, but something I think I'd steer clear of.

GT has a 6 speed auto and limited slip differential. The base does not.

Also has 2 extra cylinders and a LOT more options for upgrading power.
