Does anyone have an idea what would cause this white discoloration on the primary tube near the header flange. I saw it on a couple of other primaries, but not as much. Does this point to a break in the weld?

Possibly but most leaks are black marks.
I would say it's water that gathers when parked in that gap and when you start it up it expands and dries. Then heats up and the solids in the water turn white.
I wouldn't worry about it unless you can hear it when running or see black marks. It will sound like a tick noise if it leaks that close to the head.

Thanks for all of the advice. I put some soapy water in the area and it clearly bubbled and pushed out in these areas. I have a hard time seeing how this would be a gasket issue since its between the primary and flange. I think I'll have to go the RMA route with Kooks Tuesday.
