Yeah, that seems pretty common. Disc brakes are setup so that pressure on the inner and outer pads is even in theory so they should wear evenly. But it doesn't seem to work out that way.

Dismissing caliper issues might have premature. On the way home, there was a slight swishy/grindy sound at highway speeds, barely affected by braking, and the sound would come and go at city speeds. Should I wait it out, you think, or swap the caliper?

What a pain! I would give it another day of driving, and if it doesn't clear up then change the pins. If no improvement then change the caliber. Or just change out the caliber since it would be all apart just do the pins and you have the caliber already.

Slotted rotors have a history of making the swishy sounds..
I'm not used to hearing a slight squeal at highway speeds like I did yesterday.

Get yourself a cheap IR thermometer from Harbor Freight or somewhere. Take the car for a spin and then immediately check temperatures side to side. If one is actually dragging that disk will be significantly hotter.

From drilled & slotted rotors you will sometimes hear a woosh or fan type sound [often a whirring type noise]
The other brake noise - what type of pad did you go with? Did you do proper bedding [seating] of the pad? I am assuming it was a brake apply with noise?

Wagner Thermoquiet ceramic pads. I did a typical bedding. The sound is constant, braking or not at highway speeds. It's more noticeable today than it was yesterday. A metallic squeal.

I'm wondering if it's maybe the parking brake. I didn't make any adjustment to them. To and from the gym tonight, the sound was louder, and coming from both sides in the rear. Another weird symptom is that it mostly goes away when weight transfers to the left, as in turning right. Not sure what would cause that.
How does one adjust the parking brakes?
