Default What 650+ rwhp does to a Harrop/Eaton TrueTrac

This morning I got all 12 cap screws holding the thing together out. Still would not come apart. Tonight I got out the mini sledge and got it to pop open. Had to beat on it some more to get the axle gears out. Some time with a punch getting the other gears out. The mating surfaces of the axle gears were the worst. Galled really bad. The side gears all had some wear lines in the middle. No big chunks out of any teeth though.

Ouch! I'm running one of these with the 1LE 3.91 center section. I hope mine holds up better than yours. I drag race a manual GXP with 500+ RWHP no problems yet. I've broken a GForce 750hp axle but knock on wood my diff has been solid.

Apparently they have made improvements to them:

We are proud to announce the latest Harrop/Eaton Truetrac for VE/VF Models, which has significant improvements over the standard duty version.

    Key Improvements

    210% Stronger gear set
    Larger side and pinion gears
    8 pinions instead of 6
    Precision cut side gears
