Default Which tire do you feel would work best..MT vs. Hoosier

26x11.5x17 Mickey Thompsons with 11.5 section width and 9.5 thread width , which is what I have been running and cutting consistent 1.60-1.63s or trying out the 275x40x17 Hoosier DOT drag radials that are 25.2 in diameter, 11.2 section width, and 10.3 thread width. What are your thoughts?

    Thanks
    Jon

I have a set of the Hoosier's. I only cut mid 1.7's but they hooked very well & didn't require much of a burnout.

Do you have the size Hoosiers that I specified? What is your hp/tq? 1/4 mile?

    Thanks

Same size tire. Had a very tight stall, my best was 11.7 @ 120. My 60' was the same with these as the 295/45/17 mt 2's. Not sure of my sig on here but the car was RCR heads, intake, tb. 223/231 112 cam. Triple disc Coan that flashed to 2400-50.

I only ran the hoosier's once & was running 12.0's in 3600 DA. Never played with the shifts & didn't log anything because I had already planned on pulling motor & changing stall speed. The car hooked good with the hoosier's, with a little work on the tune could've maybe got to a 11.9 which would've corrected to a mid 11 pass. If you're hooking with the mt's I don't think you'd have any problems with the hoosiers.

So you don't think 25.5 inch diameter would be too short, as far as traction goes?

I ran Hoosier 255/50R16 dot radials that were 26" tall. We cut plenty of 1.5X 60ft times. Traction was never an issue.

I know I'm a little late but that hoosier drag radial in the 275 did not work well in my car. I had a 295/45/17 mt et steet 2 before and I loved it a whole lot better. It hooked better for me and also lasted longer. The 275 is a small tire IMO compared to the 295/45.
