Why don't you just buy a real intake?

Lol. There are maybe 5 people on the forum in 6 years that have "only" modified the intake tube.
A RotoFab or a Vararam or other intake will net extra hp. Just changing the tube isn't going to do much. What do I know?

What you have now is as good as one of those, and yours has collector-value!

I appreciate your and the other member’s suggestion to my getting a real CAI, which I have done in the past on my other cars, when I was merely asking a question to an idea I had on what I believed to be the DIY board which I thought was where people came up with ideas as an alternative to buying some store item that serves the same purpose, since you are the moderator I would appreciate it if you would please just delete the whole post, thank you.

Hey bud the point he's making is that sometimes it doesn't pay to reinvent the wheel. There are plenty of ways to DIY your build, but spending time, effort, and money on a sub-par intake upgrade just doesn't make sense. I know there have been a handful of members over the years that have gone just the tube route, but it never caught on because the complete offerings are an excellent balance of performance and value. (Roto/Vara) Good luck!

If you search, you can find one or two threads where someone fabricated their own version of a intake. Call Airaid and ask them if you can return the tube if it doesn't fit your G8. Then you can test fit it yourself and post the results.
FYI: The muffler box is called a resonator. I edited your topic title.
