    All great info and help. Got the parts needed for the dod delete. I will not need the vvt kit, since the G8 does not have it....correct??

    The fun part is getting the oil pickup tube back on the oil pump

    Yeah..i've heard and read about that being a lot of fun. I am replacing oil pump and pickup tube, along with all gaskets, doing new trick flow heads, headers, timing chain and tensioner, plugs and wires...seems like the list just keeeeeeeeps goin. Done a lot of reading on what to replace while disassembled..this forum is a buffet of useful information!

    yes the list does keep going why change the pickup tube? The oil pan will have to come off to do that

    Lifter went bad, flat cam, wanna make sure oil pump isnt all messed up and no metal in engine, so gonna replace both.

    You can clean the pick up tube. Don't throw money at that part.
