Kicker 8" subs

Just wanted to throw some info out there. I was looking for the kicker 10c82 that are referenced in several threads as popular replacements, but they seem to be getting harder to come by, especially on reputable sites.
I found another 8" kicker that's 2ohm on eBay. It actually has a higher peak power compared to the cheaper sub's that have been popular. (400w vs 100w). I'll report back on fitment when they arrive. Also, I was able to get them for a similar price by making an offer, they accepted an offer of $60 a piece on this auction:

I'm going to guess no, given the stock amp is only rated for 80 watts.

I'll hook them up to the stock amp originally, but I'd like to pick up a small 4 or even 6 channel amp for the sub's/doors.
Sub's arrived today, quality seems good, heavier than I expected though.

Hmm... let us know how they sound. I'm skeptical of a sub that claims to be excellent for sealed, vented AND free-air applications, especially considering the max enclosure size for these subs is 1.2 cubic feet ported or sealed. Using them in an infinite battle (free-air) set-up utilizes the trunk as the enclosure - which is a great deal larger! I'm also interested how they fare driven by the stock sub amp, which is only rated for 40 watts per side. If they perform well under these circumstances, you may have found a great solution for those who just want a simple remedy for the lack of bass from the factory. I would absolutely recommend getting a decent amp for them though eventually.

I plan on it. Not looking to be heard at stoplights, just better quality.
Any recommendations? Do they make a 6 channel amp that runs two channels slightly higher?
Do the doors run on the factory amp?

If you simply seek better quality, I would upgrade the door speakers with ones that don't need an amp. Don't bother amplifying the stock speakers - they are the weakest link in our sound systems. There are lots out there to choose from that will sound great on just deck power, find some that fit your budget. I would just get a 2 channel or monoblock amp for the subs. Again, find one that is suited for the speakers it will be driving, within your budget.
My recommendations would simply be my preferences & car audio can be the same as Coke vs Pepsi or Chevy vs Ford. It wouldn't be a bad idea to consider a Kicker Cx-Series amp as they were made for each other, though it isn't necessary.

The stock amp only powers the rear deck subs. The rear door speakers run off the stock head unit, from there the signal goes to the amp and then to the subs. So if you fade all the way to the front - no subs.
