Call me crazy.. but possibly check the cordset and cable connection for the AC.
I would make double + triple sure that the wires were making good connection before I assume that the unit is defective.

Okay quick Question..... Does the faceplate look easy to disable? I did the color change and would have to do the same again!
so let me make sure I'm reading it all right.
unit works - arrived as advertised - takes a bit of setup for first install. all bits work other than the fan speed selection doing anything - but the AC and heat work - if left in the auto mode.
is that correct? sounds pretty close to awesome.
