I don't understand using an oil with a higher cold temp viscosity. I run 5W40 in my stroker. This time it was Mobil-1.

My engine has the Morel High RPM link bar lifters as well. They're noisier at low RPM's. My engine was built with reliability in mind.

2009.5 MSM GXP 500ish N/A RWHP. Mods include but aren't limited to: Texas Speed 418 (6.8L) fully forged held together with ARP from top to bottom, PRC 255cc heads, Rick Crawford intake plenum, TB port, polish and tune, Roto-Fab 102mm CAI w/LS7 MAF, Kooks 1-7/8" headers wrapped with DEI, Corsa catless system, Circle D 3200 Stall, 3.45 final drive, BMR's complete street bushing kit and sway bars, Eibach Pro Kit, G-Force Axles, running on staggered VMR 710's with Bridgestone RE11 rubber. HSV triple gauge pack with Calais smokers kit mod, V6 tails, debadge/rebadge, V6 door handles, AU black door trim, Maverick Man under hood strut covers, & washer and bolt kit, fully corrected paint thanks to Adams Polishes and my hard work. Built with reliability in mind with some power for those times when you need to pass or go over a big hill. Just a poser, not a racer!

I'd have to pilfer through all of my paperwork. They came from Greg at Pace, of that I am sure of.

no matter what lifter you use the proper pushrod length is critical. if too long you will put too much pressure on the plunger. I believe that is what happened with me as we used 7.425 pushrods to keep the valve train quiet. it made it quieter. but put too much pressure on the lifters. we are actually using 7.375 on the new engine. I think even 7.40 might be a touch longer than stock. a little noise is not a bad thing from the valve train.

There is no such thing as too much pressure on the plunger from preload. Plunger load doesn't change with preload. If it is noisy, it is beating the plunger every time it opens the valve which means it is being hard on parts. 7.425 has been quiet and durable on all my builds with stock heads and 7.400" with milled heads. There is about .160" of plunger travel in the lifter. It is just oil and a check-ball with oil pressure feeding it. Some guys like shallow/noisy preload so when they float the valve from a poor valetrain setup, the lifter doesn't "pump-up" and hold the valve open. .080" preload seems to be where the oil passage keeps the plunger pumped up best. Whether it be the way it is machined or whatever, that is what works. Don't let guys think noisy is better. Noisy is for solid-roller cams or guys running solid roller profiles on a hydraulic.

What if the proper measurement comes in at 7.375 or 7.40 and you use a 7.425 pushrod? That is ok for the valve train?

You want .060-.090 preload on LS7 lifters. Going farther will also cause failure
