The 6.0 AFM engines (L76 & L77) have higher volume oil pumps fitted.

Melling 10295 is stock volume with a 10% pressure increase = higher pressure oil pump.

Melling 10296 is a higher volume pump....it pumps something like 15 to 18% more volume.
It comes with 2 springs. If the blue spring is fitted it will output normal pressure. Fit the red spring and it will output higher pressure.
10296 with a red spring will give you higher volume & higher pressure than a stock pump.
    Thanks for the info CP.

I will get the 10296 pump then.

Would you guys recommend a higher volume or pressure oil pump if a cooler is installed?

If you have AFM hardware you'll want higher (than stock LS) volume as per what L76 had from factory.
If you have no thermostatic valve installed between engine block and oil cooler then on initial startup you'll be begging for greater flow, due to the added oil volume of hoses and cooler.

IMO there's no point fitting a higher pressure oil pump if you are going to be leaving the stock AFM oil pressure relief valve intact inside the oilpan.

You'd need to remove the oilpan. I still don't know the thread on the oilpan relief valve to source a suitable plug. Oilpan relief is just something unseen and not needed if you have no AFM hardware, I'd go out of my way to bin it.

Go to the Harrop website, shop online section.

The Melling 10296 High Volume pump is slightly bigger than the stock pump. It is thicker. I assume it is still a bolt in part. I will not need to modify anything to fit this pump.

Has anybody here fitted the Melling high volume pump, 10296. Does it just bolt straight in?

    Just an update.
The Caprice PPV cooler will work with stock G8 exhaust manifolds but not with the ARH long tubes.
