    I called my GM dealer about this, they took my VIN number and said I did not need to come in..... Reason, NOT ALL G8 require the repair and they can tell which one via the vin number...........IS THIS TRUE?

    Checked Pontiac owners website, called Pontiac themselves. Mine's not included in the recall.

    Dealer was servicing my car most of the week and when I picked it up yesterday the dealer says ..oh yeah we took care of that recall for ya.. Never received a letter they just said my Vin came back with it so they had gotten the software and did it.

    Same thing happened to me. Dealer said ignore the letter when you get it.

    Typically the dealer will see the recall in you VIS about 2 weeks before letters go out.

    Onstar says my G8 is under recall, Pontiac says its not.
