Default For those with broken hazard light buttons

Like many others here, the button for my hazard lights hasn't been working and seemed like it was stuck down because it wasn't sitting flush with the radio faceplate. The GM service center wouldn't fix it because of "owner tampering" (I have the gps trim kit :/) so I had to fix it myself. After taking the faceplate off and looking inside, it was apparent that the mounting points that the switch screws into had both snapped off. Because of this, when you try to push the button, you are pushing the entire switch assembly into the faceplate rather than pressing in the button. My fix was to epoxy the mounting points back on and put a spacer between the back of the switch and the radio backplate so if the switch ever broke off again it wouldn't be able to move around inside the faceplate.

Here is an image of the backside of the faceplate showing where the screw holes broke off.

Here is an image of the switch showing the pieces that snapped off.

Thought I'd take a moment to bump this.

I had the same issue - happened the day my lifter died in the car. went to turn on the hazards and pull over - in city traffic on the beltway - and pop - nothing.

This thread was great - sadly I broke the retaining clips on the faceplate - it had never been off the car before last week. so the 2 clips on the vertical fingers snapped off - or whatever. The fingers are fine - just the clip damaged. bottom horizontal ones were still good - thankfully.

I used a foam piece in there to shore it up. worked pretty well too.

Great post, this has happened to me also. Another thing to fix when it warms up.

I switched to the IQ radio shortly after mine broke. That fixed it right up

I was driving through a DUI check point and the officer told me to turn my blinkers on when I stopped. I tried and bam button broke. I told him it didn't work and he looked at me funny and stuck his head in to watch me press it. Told me I should get it fixed and away I went.

Out of the 2011-2013 Caprice PPV, or the 2010-2013 Holden HSV's. Mine come from the latter and has nav.

The SS uses My Link and will not work.

Easy to do, but more expensive than that one.
