    Guess this will be a dealer repair then... thanks for the heads up all. Of course will push them to try to find out WHY it did it in the first place, if possible. Will have them look at front strut towers as well...

    Hub bearings are sealed. Your guess is as good as theirs when it comes to a failure.

    You have a friend with a lift? I know you said you can move it North/South. Can you see exactly what is moving?

    I used jackstands for just about everying.

    The Sears tech is who noticed it, I can ask him if he saw play in any of the other rear suspension components while he was back there... or once I get this damn trans bug figured out, jack it up myself...

    take it to a reputable tire shop. Not sure about where you live, but SEARS ain't it.

    Fair enough, but I did feel confident in the tech based on work he's done for me in the past. We'll see what the dealer says! (And then maybe a local tire shop)
