FYI ... just because they are impacted on is not bad. If the impact has a torque stick between it and the socket, they will not be over tightened. I had always put mine on by hand. My son picked up some torque sticks and we have been using them to run up the lugs then follow with final tightening my hand with torque wrench. They have not over tightened yet.

Maybe they had it set to 125 tons? I hope your car is not damaged from all that.

I manage a Company Owned Goodyear location and company policy is that ALL WHEELS are hand torqued and then double checked by a second associate, then signed off to prevent wheel offs and of course applying the proper torque to each wheel.....if i see an associate not doing it, it is a problem that is quickly fixed....

I am wiped out - what the Hell tightened those lugs? A freakin' gorilla???
I bought my GT with 7k on the clock, had it a week and threw some rims on it, one of the lugs came off in two pieces.

When I first went to rotate my tires the first time after getting it back from the dealer that did the LCAs it took a prybar with a 5 ft cheater pipe to get one broke loose with a ton of liquid wrench on top. Needless to say I became super anal as I took it back to browbeat the service manager on violating the spec. From that point forward I watched carefully when the tires are done and I make sure they aren't over torqued.

At Costco we have to hand torque them as well. They are double checked and have to be signed off by a supervisor/manager.

Sorry Brotherman, but I gotta throw a yellow flag on that statement. USE A TORQUE WRENCH. Even a cheap, Chineeeeese one from Harbor Freight is better than guessing and "rules of thumb," which just don't get the job done properly.
