Cant open driver door manually with key

Ive had my 09 gt for a little over a year now. For some crazy reason i decided to try an open the driver door manually with the key yesterday for the first time and it wouldnt open, not a sound nothing. The fob has worked fine, no issues (knocking on wood). I cant lock the door either... I havnt gone to the dealer yet. Any ideas??

I dunno how our door locks work, but my guess it the lock cylinder rod is disconnected... No big deal, unless someone was messing around inside your door... I've seen both situations on many different makes & models.

99% sure it's a warranty thing or you would be posting that your car was broken into...

This was common problem on GTOs. Come to find out that since it is seldom used it just took a lot more effort than considered normal to unlock the door.

That's what happened to me when I tried it once, and it scared the heck out of me so I never did it again.

When you lock the car with the remote, then unlock the car with the key it sets off the alarm. Most GMs do this, it is known as passive anti-theft. If you need to open it with the key and the horn goes off, just turn the ignition on or start the car and it will disable the alarm.

Or just use your remote.

I would think the door lock would recognize the chip in the key. I guess not though.

The door lock is just ...a cylinder. No electronics to it.

Why even put a key lock in the door then if it'll set off the alarm?

Incase the thieves don't want to break the window?
