I started to do this, then read further. I read that the lifters and engine ticks and taps are more apparent with this cover off...so that decided it for me. I've already got a tick while DOD is engaged...sounds like a diesel truck in AFM mode, but goes away when all eight kick in. Several ticks while at idle, and the infamous alternator whine. GRRRR! The holden covers work with the intake cover on there right? I'd like to do the covers, oil cap and radiator cover for sure...

If you are talking about 2 piece 6.0 engine covers then NO, the acoustic cover above the intake manifold has to be removed permanently to fit them.

Gonna do this mod as well, I cant understand the reasoning behind.......rubber-plastic-gap-rubber-plastic (in order from engine upwards of course) is this not overkill? On another note, I cant believe you guys that bought the 6.0 covers and then cut them............thats crazy! Get the heater hose relocation kit and take 1/2 hour and make it look 100% cleaner AND NO CUTTING new covers!

I literally drove my car home 5 years ago, popped the hood and did this mod and a CAI first. I did many of Charlie's mods including getting a set of his ARP bolts just a few months ago to put my top end back together with.

    You'll be missed Charlie!

This is a nostalgic thread for me too since it was my second mod after the Rotofab, both of which I accredit to Charlie. I reread it over and over because I was so scared I wasn't going to be able to remove the cover without causing a gas leak of some kind.
