Nice, someone needed too! But I'm pretty sure both of them want more then the $39 it costs for the vette pieces.

I just got back from a long 2488mile trip to Naples Florida and back. I now have the rear clunk over bumps and interestingly a rubbing/squeaking sound when turning the front wheels. It got louder as it got colder, sounds like where the steering column goes into the dashboard. The rear clunk I had but it is much more noticeable now in the cold and after the car being packed n heavy. Will take it in next week see what they say. I have no exhaust work done so its not that.

My car just turned 4000 miles this morning; no exhaust changes, no mods to speak of. The rattle sounds like a bad strut or strut mount, and is very noticeable here in S Central PA on our finely-maintained roads. I just had my 81 year-old father in the car for a 150 mile trip back from the Eastern Shore; he asked what was rattling in the back of my new car. My dealer fortunately is very good, and I haven't seen them for a month or so as nothing has broken or fallen off the car for a little while. I'll keep you all informed.

Add me to the list.... Had it inspected at the dealership twice, and while they can hear the noise, they cannot (or at least claim) find a problem to fix. So, there is a Pedders Day at my favorite speed shop (Modern Muscle) this weekend, and I signed up for an inspection. Sales push realted or not, I jumped at the chance to have some pros with passion look at my car. I'll let ya'll know my results.

I had Pete from Pedders look at it. All of the bushings looked fine. He believed (98% sure) that the strut mount bushings at the top of the strut towers will become hard and shrink in the cold and allow movement in that area. He says there is clearence issues with the frame and the top bolt on the strut tower assembly. I don't think my particular clunk was the bolt impacting the frame, but it definitely sounded like movement in that vicinity.

Sorry to revisit an old issue but has anyone come up with a solution to the mysterious rear clunking noise? I have been having this problem and have stock exhaust.

Some have reported success replacing the strut tower bushings.
