Wouldn't a HDMI to RCA cable work also? This would eliminate a converter I would think...maybe I'm missing something.

Gotta have the converter to go from digital to analog, a cord can't do that.

Are you guys drilling holes in the side of your glove box for the cables? Also how are you getting the wire in the center console? I can't find anything on removing the back part of the console.

This may sound dumb but from the right up i was interested in knowing how you set up the router and are connecting to the wifi what internet do you use? Phone hotspot? or does it not have internet? If no internet how does your phone connect to the network? Not a network genius so im curious

    Hey guys,
Completed my apple tv install a few weeks ago and had a quick question...
I found a power inverter that has two usb slots which ended up being perfect....I plugged the inverter into the front cig lighter and placed in the glovebox.
I put the apple tv in the little cubby hole under the radio head unit (very snug fit) which allowed me to use the remote.
The hdmi to rca converters usb is plugged directly to the inverter along with the apple tv power cord.
No usb brick, no extension cords, pretty clean install.

The problem im having is i only receive video signal, unless i unplug the converter usb and plug it back in. Then i get both audio and video....
Is anyone else having an issue with their hdmi converter?

Bringing this thread back from the dead!

I'm looking into doing this mod on my car since I'm not crazy about any of the aftermarket radio options out there. I'd like to be able to fit everything behind the center dash to keep everything hidden and I think there's room for a small power inverter, apple tv, and router behind there. I had a question about the router though. I found the router linked below and was hoping that someone smarter than me about this kind of stuff could tell me if this would work for this setup. Thanks for the help.
